Don't miss this incredible Unesco site if you are in bangkok. It is only an hour from bangkok and there are lots of inexpensive bus and private tours to get you there. There are a number of temple sites from Old Siam, the former capital of Thailand. Many are very well preserved.

Some of the temple buildings have collapsed but are still intact and can still be seen in their original form. The place is comfortable, not too busy, so you can walk leisurely along each of the best spots.

Wat Phra Si Sanphet is an iconic fight to behold. While there are many Wats in Ayutthaya, this one is unique with the 3 large stupas standing along side, and they are generally in good condition. You can find imagine the grandeur in the past when the structures were all standing tall and proud.

You can visit Phra Mingkhon Bophit next door too.

This is an amazing place to visit, we were fortunate to have a tour guide accompanying us. This place is steeped in history over many hundreds of years. Unsure about all of it but many kings had a hand in building this huge figure. Really easy to access. Lots of layers and subtleties with this holy place. Thoroughly recommend this one for families as there is plenty of room to look around.

Built in the early 1300s where the 19 meter high Buddha statue towers over the many worshippers. As a non-active Buddhist believer, it is easy to believe that you are doing wrong, but the whole thing is very relaxed

Well my “Happy Place” has been found at last, an amazing little village to immerse yourself in the amazing life of the Mahout,
Up close and personal with your very own elephant to feed, clean, bathe, swim, walk & talk with and LOVE !!.
The homestyle food is so good and the accomodation is adequate and comfortable enough for the price, everybody here makes you feel welcome and part of the family ….
The amazing friendly staff, the directors, the villagers, and the beautiful children all become your best friends for life at Elephantstay ….
BUT be prepared it is a working village and the day is busy ….
I suggest waking up early everyday and take in the sights and sounds of the start of everyday you wont regret or forget it !!
Thank you all at Elephantstay for all that you do for these beautiful animals ….
It was my first time here and it wont be my last, it really is an incredibly humbling experience to be part of this place even for a short time …. 🦣
Thank you Pi Om, Michelle, Ewa, Lexi, Mr Pong and all of the wonderful mahouts , children and family's that made my week long holiday so happy !!

We did a boat trip along the river. You can see many of the temples such as Wat Arun. Also beautiful views of the city skyline. The boat took us to this area which is full of fish and the boat owner sells you bread for 200 baht which you can feed to the fish

We were visiting Wat Phra Si Sanphet and had walked past this temple and popped by. It houses Phra Mongkhon Bophit, one of the largest bronze Buddha images in Thailand which is believed to be constructed during the early Ayutthaya period (1448 to 1602 AD). The temple also shows images of the restoration and the history of the statue, among others. We would recommend a visit if you are around the area.

Overall, the museum is worth visiting. The place is good and well organized.

There are 3 buildings in this museum. The admission fee is 150 baht for foreigners (yeah, dual price). But you can see many collections of relics belonging to the Ayutthaya Kingdom. And you get an information leaflet that has fair enough information regarding the museum and Ayutthaya Kingdom itself.

The main building is very well organized and informative. A lot of collections are displayed with an English explanation. This building also has 3 rooms that display the gold artefacts. And it is beautiful. Definitely worth visiting and seeing.

The rest building is just meh. Small, gloomy, and not informative. All the sign is in Thai.
