"Buena vista" for sure! Do not by pass this opportunity if you enjoy big views from above. Follow the signs. Takes a little patience to drive up to the park.

Great wine. Great views. Wish we could try any kind of wine instead of just flights. I mean you are paying for them. Very friendly Staff.

The staff is knowledgeable about the all things on the West coast of WI. There are a few local gift items and a lot of tour information along the Wisconsin Great River Hwy 35. This is a good spot to stop and learn about life in Alma

I have a lot of fond childhood memories of this park. When I get stressed out about adult life I go there to tap into my inner child. As time changes so do the things around us. Since I was a child they added camping sites there. You have to be choosy when you camp there though because if waters are high the playground floods. You used to be able to go there and see tundra swans. They're not there so much any more because of all the Marsh weeds that have over grown in there. Fishing used to be great there too. There's sheltered bathroom facilities there. My childhood memories would rate it a 5 but now a 4 because of the changes in time.

As a photographer, the Refuge is my "go to" spot for bird photography. As part of the Mississippi Flyway the opportunities abound for great photos. Just make sure to keep your camera with you at all times, you never know who will be flying by or taking a break on the water!

The Refuge begins just north of Alma, Wisconsin on the Mississippi River and covers 4 states, 240,000 acres and extends 261 river miles.

So clean and tastefully decorated with jaw dropping record size deer mounts. We learned the new owners bought it 2 years ago and gave it an overhaul cleaning and fresh look. Beer was cold, bar burgers and fries were great! Menu has appetizers, burgers, chicken sandwich, and pizzas…perfect simple menu. Everything was so clean including bathrooms. Friendly service. We look forward to coming back.

Between Alma and Cochrane just off of highway 35 is a nice quiet bar/restaurant/ camp grounds/ boat harbor. We were there on a Sunday morning for breakfast and of course Bloody Marys. Drinks were good, food was your basic Midwest (I ate tooooo much) breakfast fare. Can’t really speak to the boat rentals but the campground are right on the water and everything looked clean and well maintained
