A sunny fall day in October made this trip wonderful. The staff in the visitor center as well as up on the mountain, were friendly and kind. The roads are in excellent shape and the bathrooms clean. Beautiful views. We enjoyed hiking the trail at the top of the mountain. The spruce and balsam fir cover the mountain top and the smell is wonderful! It smelled like Christmas our entire hike. The hike is uneven and not just a walking, easy trail. (if you are in good shape, have sturdy walking shoes and a walking stick, go for it!) The trail does not have several places to see good views however and even at the bench trees hinder some of the view. We were there early morning and the only ones on the trail for awhile. The silence was incredible, not a thing to be heard. Only thought negative is that the price is a little steep. It would be nice to just charge by the car load and not add on a price for every passenger. Nice picnic spots if you want to spend more time.

When planning our recent trip to New England, I had this listed as a "must do" since my wife is a huge Rockwell fan. We made to drive up on the newer highway and came back on old Rt 7 - both routes offered nice scenery, but the old route is much more interesting. The Rockwell exhibit was nice - an abundant assortment of the artist's works with interesting backstories. The entry to the exhibit includes an area with prints and posters for sale. We looked for one particular print my wife wanted as a gift, but despite looking in every bin (and there are a LOT of them) struck out. I tried to find someone to ask about it, but the staff were all busy in the main business. If you like Rockwell, I believe you'll find this interesting.

Home to so many New England fly fishermen and women. Also great to canoe, kyack or tube when the water is high. But a traditional trout fishing heaven.

Beautifully maintained bridge over the Battenkill leading to the picturesque area where the Norman Rockwell home and museum are located.

The people are very friendly and quite humorous. The premade sandwiches were very good. They waited on us even though they were just past their 7 pm closing time. The deli unfortunately now closes at six so we couldn’t order sandwiches to be made fresh.

They had different maple syrups and had taste testing of one brand. The ladies at the counter were helpful about the syrups. This was a great store to look for vermont novelties.

Visiting The Village Peddler & Chocolatorium was a great stop while in the Manchester area. The Village Peddler has a nice variety of stuffed animals and other items as well as a 200-pound chocolate bear on display. The Chocolatorium offers a nice variety of chocolate including pops and chocolate covered nuts, etc. I had the most delicious gelato while there. One may try two different kinds with a medium and they were both so good.

This is a family run business where they just make damn good chocolate and fudge! The Monte Family strive to involve the community in their chocolate making by having making days. There is a vast array of unique handmade chocolates that satisfy even chocolate aficionados. Do yourself a favour and visit this store.

This company is absolutely fabulous. Josh, the owner, is extremely knowledgeable and attended to every detail of our trip. He even let one person in our group wear his hat because it was very sunny on the day we traveled. The price is also very reasonable. Our canoe trip was the highlight of our visit to Manchester.
