We found great results, but some are outside Alta. Showing results in neighboring cities.
Limit search to Alta.
#1 of 3 Nature & Parks in Alta
While all ski resorts rely on Mother Nature, of course, this resort has some great off piste skiing, wonderful groomed trails, and lovely vistas.
Alta is a great mountain because of the snow quality & terrain, but all the more unique because it is so underdeveloped due to Nat'l Park status.
Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort Snowbird 1.8 km away
#1 of 1 Nature & Parks in Snowbird
The weather changes quickly during spring time, I found out that when Park City has snow / rain mix, Snowbird and Alta have fresh powder during the week we stay.
Fun stop during our National Park visit.
Big Cottonwood Canyon Salt Lake City 4.7 km away
#1 of 38 Nature & Parks in Salt Lake City
There are great hiking trails (suitable for all levels of fitness), great picnic locations, beautiful scenery for photography or just to enjoy nature.
Parley's Canyon leads to Park City, Millcreek is great for hiking, but for sheer beauty Big Cottonwood is the most beautiful and has the best ski resorts in the winter.

Solitude Mountain Resort Solitude 5.3 km away
#1 of 1 Nature & Parks in Solitude
The snow was great when we were there, and the extra elevation over Park City definitely helps this.
Solitude is located on the back side of the Park City mountain range.
Wasatch-Cache National Forest Brighton 5.1 km away

... available: hiking, fishing, wildlife from birds to ground squirrels to coyotes to moose, picnicking, mountain biking, skiing, and just enjoying beautiful nature, including several significant waterfalls..
We travelled through this on the way from Thayne to Craters of the Moon National Park and boy was it worth the trouble.
Donut Falls North Salt Lake 7.0 km away
#1 of 1 Nature & Parks in North Salt Lake
As the hike to Donut Falls is popular with locals, the parking at the trailhead was full the day I went, so I had to park at the intersection of Highway 190 and the road leading to the trailhead, then walk all the...
Everyone we met on the trail was so nice and just enjoying the scenery and true Utah nature.
Little Cottonwood Canyon Utah 9.2 km away
#169 of 578 Nature & Parks in Utah
Take in the fresh air and gorgeous views, brings you a whole lot closer to nature and excellent for meditation.
There are also a few turn-outs along the drive up that offer spaces for 3-5 cars, so it is possible to park short of the trail head and hike the road a ways.
