- Malaya B2 contributionsThe Spanish-era architecture is beautifully preserved, and it’s easy to get lost in the charm of this historic district in the heart of Manila.Written February 4, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - phuttyTallinn, Estonia1,402 contributionsThere are some moving, enlightening and at times horrifying exhibitions and information panels in this complex, which is all that remains of historical Manila. Very much worth spending an hour or two in if you're exploring Intramuros.Written January 18, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Pat BMiami, FL188 contributionsOn the morning of Dec 28, 2024, 4 of us went to this glorious underwater phenomenon to be among the sharks and stingrays and having been there before i guarantee Ocean Park has improved spectacularly in the last 10 years, from the fishes to the penguins. This was my 3rd visit and i was amazed how well this place is maintained. Except the gift shop. Gone are the specialty boutiques with quality clothes. They have been replaced with one huge store that resembles a charity shop with toys all over the floor and t-shirts in disarray on top of them. We did not find any worthwhile souvenirs of quality that could be taken home with pride. The truth is, it gave a poor ending to an entertaining and educational Saturday morning. I hope this comment will reach the management and will revive what was once a pleasure to spend a relaxing moment browsing and buying.Written January 31, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ybenZamboanga Peninsula, Philippines77 contributionsRizal park also popularly known as Luneta Park, is a big urban park in manila. Its clean and beautiful. Many people go there to stroll or exercise. Best to go there early morning or late afternoon to avoid the scourching heat of the sun and be able to enjoy the cool breeze.Written November 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dan LBunbury, Australia9,012 contributionsThe building dates to 1586, constructed in the Baroque style, completed in 1604 and consecrated in 1607 and is regarded as the oldest stone church in the country. The building has survived earthquakes, fire sacking, war, it served as a hospital in 1863 and as a concentration camp by the Japanese during WW11. Although damaged, it was the only building in Intramuros that survived the war.Written December 12, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DipuKVPune, India3,401 contributionsCould only view it from the outside. The structure is huge & beautifully lit at night. A great spot for views, selfies and a peek into the country’s features.Written December 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dan LBunbury, Australia9,012 contributionsLooked forward to revisiting the museum again on our shore excursion and no regrets. Just a fabulous collection of religious artefacts, vestments, liturgical vessels, bibles, paintings, statues, furnishings, etc. through the centuries. The palanquins that lined the corridors last visit were in the external covered walkways being readied for a religious festival, others were being built and decorated with colourful cloth and various statues of the Virgin and saints. Still no photography allowed inside but I was able to get a few photos of the palanquins outside. The tour was informative, our guide very knowledgeable but I'd prefer time alone for some hours to browse and really appreciate the collection and the decor of the building interior.Written December 12, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dan LBunbury, Australia9,012 contributionsA brief stop on a busy shore excursion itinerary, time enough to get a few photos of both the exterior and interior. External signage was very informative, the official title being, "Minor Basilica and Metropolitan Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception", the present building the 8th built on the site, the first in 1571 was a simple church which was declared a Cathedral in 1581. Earthquakes, fire and war have not been kind to the Cathedral over the centuries. The present building dates to 1958, the year it was completed and consecrated.Written December 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Harirajan VaratharajanPenang Island, Malaysia271 contributionsManila Bay Beach, also known as Dolomite Beach, offers a refreshing escape in the heart of the city with its artificial white sand and stunning sunset views. It has become a popular spot for leisurely walks, relaxation, and photography, drawing both locals and tourists. While swimming is not allowed, the clean-up efforts have improved the bay’s scenery and atmosphere. Though the project remains controversial, the beach provides a scenic waterfront space for people to enjoy Manila’s iconic bay view.Written January 31, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dan LBunbury, Australia9,012 contributionsReturn visit, on this occasion having a look only at the areas not visited in 2023.
Its an amazing relic of a privileged lifestyle enjoyed by a Filipino family while the country was under Spanish colonisation. Some Filipinos were evidently looked upon more favorably than others. Too crowded on the day and we made a decision to head to the Royal Cafe for some refreshments and rejoin the group on conclusion of their visit.Written December 12, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dan LBunbury, Australia9,012 contributionsInteresting remains of the ancient fortifications in Intramuros. Constructed between 1586/87, modified in 1609, rebuilt between 1653/63 and a solid fortification until British cannon fire breached it in 1762. Restored by the Spaniards it served it's purpose until damaged in the 1863 earthquake and then abandoned. Completely destroyed during the Battle of Manila and restored to its current state between 1979/1992. Interesting to walk the perimeter and try gain a vantage point to photograph. Be good with a drone but a permit is required.Written December 12, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AaronCrisQuezon City, Philippines133 contributionsI am a proud Filipino. Going inside to the Malacanang Palace and Presidential Museum was fun. I learned more about our past and current Presidents of this country. Mind you all that if you want to have a tour, you have to send them an request letter through their website and wait for the confirmation. And just follow the house rules inside the museum.Written August 2, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
