What travelers are saying
- Ben FBloomington, IN1,506 contributionsI strolled Intramuros for an hour or two (on a 100 degree day, mind you), and the sights I saw were quite interesting and unique. The cathedral in particular was beautiful. I enjoyed people-watching and watching locals live their lives.
However, the construction…every corner I turned, workers were digging up the road. I understand they’re trying to preserve and improve things, but from this one experience at an objective point of view, I really disliked the roadwork. Driving my electric wheelchair on the streets to begin with, already stressful as is, was made nearly impossible with construction part of the equation.
There also weren’t many places to go in (at least that seemed open to visitors) and not many places to eat that weren’t blocked off. I got a bit lost and confused at times when trying to find my way around, which is often part of the fun, but Manila as a city in general did not impress me. Subjectively.
Perhaps experience Intramuros for just an hour en route to something else (e.g. Fort Santiago). I may return once construction season dies down.Written March 11, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Some areas are ok to see and you can get a good feel how fort would have worked, surrounding walls in good shape and good to see.
Dungeon area very well preserved and explained with the horrors that occurred in there, also on day I visited lots of school groups so good that local students explore history of country.
In all good to see and do, you can visit in under an hour.Written January 21, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Exquisite architecture to the church, with this religious establishment meaning the most to the locals than all the other churches and cathedrals.
Probably my favorite of the churches to visit, so I would put this high on the list of things to see in Manila.Written March 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Doubles up also as monument to Philippines independence with lots of other things to see and do.
Large water feature in middle of park with many seats around so you can relax and enjoy the park. With gardens to enjoy also, it's such a great place to experience the history of Manila and the Philippines.Written March 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This is not the original Cathedral but still very impressive to see.
Amazing architecture throughout the cathedral and certainly one of the top attractions to see.Written March 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. a lot of things have changed since then. for one, our national museum has expanded and housed a lot of other materials that were not present three decades prior. it has separate provisions now - one each for fine arts and for natural history. a full day is not enough to roam the place.
for a minimal fee, one can enjoy a guided tour of the place. be sure your cameras have full batteries and enough memory storage.Written February 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
