Fort itself is more of a ruin that an active fort, worth a look around and only 75 peso entry.

Some areas are ok to see and you can get a good feel how fort would have worked, surrounding walls in good shape and good to see.

Dungeon area very well preserved and explained with the horrors that occurred in there, also on day I visited lots of school groups so good that local students explore history of country.

In all good to see and do, you can visit in under an hour.

Wonderful Park that is located just outside the walled city, massive park that is extremely well maintained. Doubles up also as monument to Philippines independence with lots of other things to see and do.

Large water feature in middle of park with many seats around so you can relax and enjoy the park. With gardens to enjoy also, it's such a great place to experience the history of Manila and the Philippines.

It was our first time go there. It was exciting and cool. With the promo price, it is what is. Maybe Manila Ocean Park will renovate or enhance some of their facilities. Some employees are boring and MASUNGIT!!!!

Nice Place to enjoy in evening, lot of eating options and a good view of the bay, This place is good with a walk way , but due to some construction work in the sea the experience is not so good.

It was relatively easy to book and coordinate with the Park Administration for a Corporate Event at Paco Park. The venue is unique, historical, romantic, and elegant. The fountain is beautiful at night. Bookings for the Chapel is separate. Perfect for musical or outdoor theatre event. We brought our own caterer. Make sure you inspect the toilets. Bring your own amenities because the administration does not provide that. If they did, they would get more bookings for the venue.

With the strong presence of Chinese people in the country, it's not surprising that there be many places associated with them even in Manila. One of them is the Chinese Garden at Rizal Park. The place is quite small, with limited structures inside, but the ponds and the greenery are very relaxing to behold. There's also a big impressive gate that welcomes visitors at the main entrance. This garden is a real oasis in the middle of a chaotic and bustling city. No wonder it is one of Filipinos' favorite places to hang around and while their time away.

one of the most beautiful and manicured zoological facilities i've ever been to. You can clearly tell its super newly renovated.

    THERE. WERE. NO. ANIMALS.

it's like they spent all their money on the renovation and had nothing left for animals.
No mega herbivores. elephant exhibit, no elephant. Hippo exhibit, no hippo. Hyena exhibit, no hyenas. Butterfly aviary. No butterflies. the list goes on.
Animal curation was horrible. No fore/after thought.
Animal welfare was vile. primates in exhibit with no shelter, barely anything to sit on. Macaque was kept solitary in a lemur exhibit with no lemurs.
    Abysmal.

Arroceros Forest Park is a riverside urban forest located in the heart of Manila, specifically at Antonio Villegas Street (former Calle Arroceros) in Ermita. It was developed in 1993. The 2.2-hectare (5.4-acre) park sits on the south bank of the Pasig River, at the foot of Quezon Bridge, and consists of secondary growth forest with 61 different tree varieties and 8,000 ornamental plants, providing a habitat for 10 different bird species. It also serves as a temporary resting place for people who want to avoid the scorching heat of the sun. Thus, it is being called The Last Lung of Metro Manila.

On February 27, 2020, Mayor Isko Moreno signed City Ordinance No. 8607, or the Arroceros Forest Park Ordinance, designating the Arroceros Forest Park as a permanent forest park instead of as ordinary city property. Under this ordinance, cutting of trees, dumping of waste, and excavation is prohibited within the area. Alongside the ordinance, the mayor also revealed plans to allocate P1 million for the park's operations, to appoint "peace officers" to help in taking care of the park, and to expand the forest park as the highlight of a future green city in the Lawton area.

The park has tiled pathways and concrete roads giving access to areas around the park. It also contains a fish pond and bridge, as well as a riverside walk. The park is a habitat of different bird species, such as the pied fantail, zebra dove,long-tailed shrike, Pacific swallow, yellow-vented bulbul and brown shrike.

The Japanese Garden, as the name implies, is a little garden with Japanese theme. There is a big lake inside surrounded by trees. There were not so many visitors when we visited it on the morning of the first day of the year compared to its nearby Chinese counterpart. The garden needs some sprucings and cleaning to live up to its name of "Japanese."

The Pasig River Ferry service has had a checkered history, including several suspensions of service and even the day before, a licensed guide told me that he thought that it wasn't running! None the less, I decided to give it a try, getting on board at the Escoleta Station which is at the China Town end of Jones Bridge. I decided to ride it to the farthest point upriver, the Guadalupe Ferry Station, which is adjacent to the Guadalupe Bridge.
    My key observations are...
    1. The Pasig is a working river which is also prone to being overgrown by water lilies.
    2. It runs past the former Royal Palace and poverty stricken shacks.
    3. This is a great opportunity to meet local people from all walks of life.
    4. While not my idea of how to entertain myself, I did see people swimming in the river.
    5. The ferry stations were not in the better parts of town and could use some attention.
    6. I was able to sit by a door and for a couple of dollars, it was not an unpleasant way to spend an afternoon.
    7. BTW there was no significant unpleasant smell on the day I was there.

When the area of present-day Binondo was allotted to the Chinese migrants in the city in the late 16th century, the place where the actual plaza stands was just a vast grassy field. Its name has undegone changes through time. It was once called the Plaza de Binondo, then it became Plaza de Carlos IV and Plaza Calderón. But from 1981 onwards, it was officially named Plaza San Lorenzo de Ruiz in honor of the first Filipino saint.

This square was the very heart of the Binondo Chinatown. There was a time when the place was very much neglected and one could hardly appreciate the nice architectural gems in it (like the two fountains, the statue of St. Lorenzo Ruiz, etc.). Today the place has been cleaned up and its surrounding areas have been cleared as well. Now it's easy to drive around it by car or cross it on your way to the Binondo Church. I just hope that the police stationed at the square would prevent homeless people from turning the place into their permanent sleeping grounds.

We. were staying at a nearby hotel and I walked 15 minutes to Dolomite Beach which is an area cleaned up by volunteers along Roxas Blvd on Manila Bay.

Let me say the walk along Roxas Blvd is interesting and full of many different characters. I did not feel completely safe with beggars and Calesa drivers regularly approaching me and the homeless street people constantlty staring at me. A street cleaner advised me to put my mobile away to protect if from snatchers.

You cant really call this a beach but the volunteers who maintain this area have done an amazing job and families with umbrellas now utilise Dolomite Beach.

The sand is white but very course and the ocean looks so much cleaner but I suspect still not suitable for swimming. A sign indicates that swimming is not allowed.

Its great to see this under utilised area cleaned up and made available to the public.
