What travelers are saying
- BalkrishnaShroffMumbai, India20,926 contributionsIt is locatd next to San Augustin Church in a historic walled city of Intramuros. It is all about the lifestyle of affluent Filipinos during conolial Spainish rule.Written October 24, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The kind of place where you wander w/o looking for something special but where you can always find something to buy.Written January 15, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This place shows the Luneta side, a few old Spanish cannons and a steam engine relic is showcased.Written December 13, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ynadqnorManila, Philippines1,409 contributionsJust a few months ago the breeze coming from Manila Bay in this part of the city borders to being offensive. But then the government embarked into a no nonsense cleanup drive to clean and eradicate the trash and refuse inhabiting the sea water. Now the air breeze suddenly smells a little better. Maybe not as fresh and pleasant as the clean breeze of the waters of Coron. Nevertheless there are some improvements. Hopefully people will appreciate the changes and instill the discipline needed to live in a clean and respectable environment.Written May 12, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ganda14311 contributionsIf you like history or would like to know additional information about the country's presidents, you might consider visiting the place. You can only take pictures inside the museum but no video is allowed. There is also a tour guide which is nice. I was just really disappointed to see the souvenir store. It's like a 'sari-sari' store located near the entrance. The store is too small (like a booth) and with a cashier. It is not appealing at all! Although there's no entrance fee, management should consider improving the souvenir store area.Written February 21, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ezekiel Phillip Deligero1 contributionAll the staff were friendly. We asked for a tour and the lady (I forgot her name) was very generous with her time to explain and tell us the stories of their exhibits. I would love to take every opportunity to visit every exhibit that they will have. The place is well kept also and all I can say is it was an excellent and an eye-opening experience. A massive thank you!Written January 17, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Dan LBunbury, Australia7,494 contributionsOur guide was almost tearful when he explained that the building had been gutted by fire some six months earlier in May 2023. Apparently, the neoclassical structure is all that remains and is scheduled to be restored to its former grandeur for heritage purposes. The building dates to 1920 when the foundations were laid out and opened to the public in 1928. It was damaged during WW11 and rebuilt in 1946, retaining most of the original design features. Impressive facade with the Ionic type pillars.Written December 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - EndlessTravelsGreater Melbourne, Australia35,500 contributionsAnother great spot to check out within Intramuros old town. Good spot to explore and take photos. - KweqSmanitSeattle, WA5,502 contributionsThis smallish plaza is a nice little area to relax and have a cold drink and sit for a few minutes.
You can grab lunch nearby at Shakey's, Max's, or Aristocrat restaurants which are all walking distance.
Artists sell paintings and drawings here and people will try and sell you carriage rides or bicycle rides but a polite no sends them on their way.
Not a must see but if you are close by check it out.Written October 11, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Upon getting to the temple, the guard would not let us in at first and told us that visitors are not allowed. He relented when we said we'd come from faraway Quezon City. Once inside, we were entertained by some friendly volunteers and were allowed to visit one of the large meditation halls. Just a quick tour, no meditation. We got the impression that they are not exactly open to accepting walk-in visitors as they are a temple with their own community of practitioners. We appreciated being shown around, though, and hearing about Fo Guang Shan's work here in the Philippines.Written December 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Phi SomchaiBangkok, Thailand3,795 contributionsThis is an office building in Ayala Makati. You find some shops and restaurants here. - WalkingPointKumamoto, Japan405 contributionsTwo styles. Daytime, it is fairly tame, with grubby side streets and closed restaurant. Nighttime, once the sun goes down, the restaurants, bars and KTVs open, and it looks a little more "glamorous" (!). Plenty of street walkers plying their age-old profession. It really is down to what floats your boat! Other than that, a waste of a taxi ride.Written November 20, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Nigel GSingapore, Singapore8,596 contributionsNice quite place to sit a while. I sat a while and my deeply seated view that in war there are no winners was reinforced. 100 000 civilians dead in the battle for the liberation of Manila. One hundred thousand who had no interest or part in the war.
The barbarism of the occupation is depicted in the National Museum of Fine Arts (among other places) in a painting Rape and Massacre in Ermita by Diosdado Lorenzo - look at that painting and link it to this place. This park is sacred to the memories of those who suffered here and are depicted in the artwork I mention. The close link is inseparable as is the suffering of the Filipino people.
Let this quiet park aspire all to understand the futility of war. Important historic location in the heart of Manila.Written February 20, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I was there early on a weekday morning. Workers had wading boots on and were cleaning the jets at 0730, but it still looked just a little bit dowdy.
However it's a clean and pleasant park, if hardly spectacular. Easy to walk to from hotels like H20, Rizal Park, The Manila Hotel, Luneta Hotel or others.Written August 24, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
