About P3450 all inclusive for 4 persons - Pontoon boat, kayaks from cave to natural bridge, entrance fees, safety equip., guide fee. Get Larry if can, knowlegable, humorous and from the area. We stayed in Basey, 30 - 40 min. ride away. One can also take a boat from dock on edge of town. Not available during our visit.
Inside caves we found a magical land of formations and huge caverns. All explained by Larry in easily understood manner. He also answers questions from experienced 'cavers'. Park lodge has snack foods, souvenir corner, tables to eat any food brought by visitors, C.R. where also can change into dry clothes (bring ur own) after a swim in the river). A few basic over night cottages. Bring cameras or regret it. Native birds along banks of river (kingfisher family mainly) and lizards that can run over water barely leaving a splash. Boat crew knew their jobs and we even had local residents playing/signing Waray tunes just up the steps from the dock before reaching the cave entrance. Nature really got some Wow's from our mouths. Larry offered an experience of total blackness by turning off stratigically placed lights. And if the group wants to experience total silence also, just stop talking and be quiet. WE did for about 30 sec. with only the sound of an occasional drip of stalagtite/mite making water. Loved our time in Sohoton Caves Nat'l Park. What a Find.

Fantastic experience! Trexplore Adventure from Catbalogan organized one day trip to Lobo Cave. I must honestly say that Joni is a professional. Contactable, relaxed person. He knows the cave like his own pocket. It was fun, it was safe, adventurous, exciting and unforgettable experience!
Thank you so much Joni for everything and hope we can do other outdoor activities in future too! 💚💚💚👌👌💪💪

The best spot in Guiuan, Eastern Samar. Around 10 minutes trekking before reaching the cave entrance.
You have to pay Php500 for the tour guide. For those who cannot swim, you can also rent a life vest. Cave is open up to 3 pm. You’ll allowed to stay inside Linao cave for 1 hr. Bringing of food is not allowed to maintain cleanliness inside and outside the cave.

It was the biggest adventure in my life, and so far, I did many adventurers things.
I did the two days tour together with a friend. Joni and his team were fantastic. Very well organized, very professional yet very calm and relaxed. He tried to fulfill all our wishes. We could stop whenever we wanted to take pictures.
It was amazing, very adventurous. There are probably many videos on YouTube which show pretty accurately what to expect. I didn’t watch them before the tour so everythin was more surprising for me.
I definitely can recommend this tour. Your physical conditioning should be ok. I wouldn’t suggest the tour to kids, even though Joni did the tour already with his 6 year old son.
Thank you very much Joni for this great experience!!!

I have spent 9 weeks in the Philippimes and travelled to places including Palawan, El Nido and Siargao. I have seen many besutiful places all around, but the biggest adventure and most unforgettable experience was the 2 Day 1 Night Exploration of the Langun-Gobingob Cave (part of the Calbiga cave system) together with the team around Caving Master Joni Bonifacio. It is a true hidden gem and it was a breathtaking experience unlike anything I have done before. Our small expedition group was the only group of people inside the cave at the time, which made it even more adventurous.
If you would like to visit this or other caves on Samar Island visit the homepage or Facebook page of Joni. His company is called „TREXPLORE“ and is located in Catbalogan, easily reachable by van coming from Tacloban.
    You will not regret it!

This cave is really amazing! You can feel more thrill as you take your adventure further. Surely you will never regret being at this place when you got here.

Wear comfortable clothes that can be use for hiking or outside activity. Always bring water with you, and keep yourselves free from accidents.

One of the extreme adventures I did in Catbalogan. The whole adventure ( trekking for 3 hours to central cave, getting in and out of the cave and the tour inside the cave ) was such an awesome experience. I will never forget this caving adventure. I highly recommended sir Joni Bonifacio as your guide for this adventure if you go caving in Central Cave.

The cave is not well taken cared of.

However, the Hagnaya beach or now called Yolanda beach after the strongest typhoon is a 5 kilometer of white sand empty beach. The place has no cellphone signal so it will be perfect to appear in present time whoever you are with.

I brought my tent, bike and some food to eat. Spent an over night and enjoy the endless stars covering the sky. The sound of waves feels like a music to my ears. The place is lovely and feels like it's yours because few locals spend time in their beautiful beaches.

We motorbiked from Calbayog city heading Northwest along the grandly titled 'Pan-Philippine Highway'. Actually its a fairly good road by Philippine standards with minimal potholes and relatively light traffic after you get past the city limits. After passing the airport, it was appx 15 min until we reached the starting point - a small village off the main road. Distance from Calbayog appx 15km or so. There is a signpost along the main road denoting 'Danao Cave 3km'. We assumed that we could simply bike along a dirt track and have a quick look at a large cave entrance. Wrong!

Following the direction of the sign, we arrived at a small village after a couple of km with no further signage or indication of the cave. We negotiated a 300 peso fee for one of the locals to show us the way which supposedly involved a "5 minute walk." Oh dear....this turned out to be a 30 min endurance test which involved wading through a river (see photo) and climbing up and down rocky, slippery, steep hillside. In short, pretty challenging, particularly in the heat....this was not a leisurely stroll! Note that the cave would be impossible to find without a local guide; entrance is pretty well hidden. In fact we ended up with at least half a dozen locals in tow although all were good humoured and helpful.

The cave entrance itself is relatively tight (see photo) but it opens out quickly once you get past the entrance. Inside its dark, muddy and slippery....flashlights essential and helmets desirable. We went as far as the first chamber which had a large number of bats noisily flying around at the top of the cave. I'm told there are 6 other chambers but we were running short of time so did not go any further. Rumour has it that snakes also live in the cave but did not see any on this particular visit.

Final thoughts.....for a keen, well-equipped caver I'm sure there is lots of potential to explore further inside. For the 'casual caver' its an interesting albeit physically demanding trip and the location is relatively near the city. The countryside surrounding the cave is unspoilt, clean and beautiful. If you want to see the 'real' Philippines its right here.

One final tip: the locals were quick to offer their guiding services and obviously knew the area well. Additionally, they were very helpful in terms of looking after their 'guests', routinely highlighting hazardous areas both inside the cave and during the walk. We gave them P500 on our return (the figure originally requested) and would have no hesitation in suggesting that you be generous too. This puts tourist dollars directly into the pocket of those who both need and deserve them!
