Didn't really know what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised. Staff were friendly and informative. The chocolate drink was an added bonus.

We went walking around the esplanade, and my partner who is a planner from New Zealand was very impressed with the layout. Well maintained and clean.

Visiting this church is like travelling back in time. Although nothing is left of its original 1863 wooden structure, its actual stone structure (which dates back to post-1869) has preserved pretty much of the Gothic-Rennaissance design typical of the Spanish church constructions in Panay in the late 19th century. The interior is really lovely and the whole place is well-maintained. I particularly like its "retablo", the 16 images of female saints in its central nave, its paintings depicting biblical scenes, pulpir, etc. The square in front of it is also beautiful, particularly its tymphanum in neoclassical style, and the Molo Mansion right across it. Thumbs up!

National Shrine of Our Lady of Candles is here. Not too many people at the moment because of COVID so glad for that.

We briefly stopped here to take its outside pictures. My driver/guide informed me that advanced reservation is needed. One could not just show up and expect to be let in.

Learned that entrance fee is 250 pesos per person! This is quite exorbitant!

We decided to move on. Perhaps, I could try again when I’m back in the city.

My question is: Why can’t it be open daily and for free?

Dinagyang returned live last Jan. 22, 2023 and I saw to it that I wouldn't miss the chance to be a part of it and to watch especially its highlight ... the barangay tribal dance competition. I got myself a ticket at the Freedom Grandstand and enjoyed watching the eight competing groups. I was able to guess the winner but, honestly, I felt something was missing in the way the tribes performed compared to how they did during the pre-pandemic time. At any rate, it was fun and I could see the excitement on people's faces. They were clearly very happy to be back on the street. There were food kiosks and souvenir stands everywhere. The traditional "sadsad" the previous night was really crowded. The light parade (aka ILOMINATION) at the Festive Walk was colorful and entertaining. Thumbs up to the organizers of all the events! :D

I went here last month and I really admire the way the museum shows all the art with its meanings. There aren't that many paintings or art that were displayed. However, the overall ambiance was aesthetic and minimalist. Moreover, the entrance fee and the employees were approachable.

The Molo Mansion, also known as the Yusay-Consing Mansion. The mansion was built in the 1920s. The Molo Mansion exhibits classical Philippine colonial architecture. The interiors have high ceilings and graceful arches. Intricate decorative carvings. The facade boasts of a Neoclassical balustrade and there are wooden double swing-out windows that open to the refreshing gardens below.

It has a great atmosphere. There are also historical sites that you can check out in this area. The library is a good place to study. You can also meditate in the prayer garden.

This is tucked away down a side street but worth a visit if you can find it.There is a lot of history in the building so you can take a while here or be quite quick if you don't want to look at the personal effects in too much detail.

The complex is clean and security is high. Police and security guards are on site and probably available when needed.

The museum has been moved to the former prison right next door. They've done a lovely job restoring the former prison which is now very bight and airy with a lot of space.

Unfortunately there are only two rooms with anything of interest to see here. The plus side is that this is free to enter so, if you have an hour spare, this is worth stopping in to see.

Place of pilgrimage beside small lush garden with some very old trees. A beautiful place to reflect and wander. Very close to the markets and old downtown.
