The best part is when you stop at the highest part of the bridge and cherish the beautiful surroundings.

We spent a quiet afternoon on this beautiful island. We relaxed on the beach. Played in the water. And explored the island. This was a very fun and relaxing day after 3 dives in the morning. Glad we got the chance to go there and experience tis place.

Still the best; dove with peter's Dive Resort which made the experience tremendously good! Their excellent local dive masters find everything that is worth looking at. Highly reccomned Padre Burgos and Peter's Dive Resort for keen divers and snorkelers.

MacArthur Landing or Leyte Landing Memorial ...however you may call it . It is the spot where Gen. Douglas MacArthur fullfilled his promise to the Philippines ," I shall return". Others refer to it as Red Beach. But don't get it wrong....there's no bloody incident involved. It is just a call sign for the ships to identify their landing area at that time. This event commenced the largest naval battle if World War II which eventually led to the defeat and surrender of the Japanese forces after 3 yeras. The place is quiet with surrounding greens and the the Leyte gulf. A must see iconic memorial of WWII.

Dropped by one late afternoon during our stay in Ormoc. Since there were no other visitors when we arrived the place was super quiet, the water in the lake was so still it looked like glass. Fog starts to embrace the mountains around the lake in the afternoon giving you a coo, serene feeling.

It was interesting to see the building which is somewhat dilapidated but interesting nonetheless, particularly as the likely future president spent some time here .

    Untouched and beautiful! Unspoiled!

Boat trips from Naval might change from time to time, so be sure to check day before you go to Marapipi. From Marapipi, we rented a boat for P300/4 persons, twas a nice ride. We paid P100 for the entrance fee at Sambawan Island.

Overall, the beauty is very overwhelming.

Just like any other shopping mall. Has restaurants clothes etc etc. Would advise not going here on weekends there are just to many people.Public transport at back and front of shopping mall on main street. Plenty of car park spaces at the rear. Remember its a one way system when driving around it. Go hotel part of the shopping mall also

I only traveled here to hire a trike to take me around the island to see the sights that interested me. Basically only 2 accom. options being Evershore or Dak Dak Beach Resort. I stayed at Evershore as it was a short walk from the port but if I was traveling with my partner I would stay at Dak Dak.
Evershore building is certainly showing its age. I contacted via fb to enquire about room availability as no information is provided on their fb page. I was advised and subsequently booked an aircon room with no TV. I booked over 4 months in advance. I had to lodge a 50% deposit to secure the booking but I paid the full amount for 2 nights. Turns out there are different room configurations to choose from. As I understand, all/most rooms now have TV but they were still waiting on having the signal/connection sorted out when I stayed. Service is indifferent.
Overall, Evershore served its purpose for me. I don't have high expectations when I stay at places on islands as they all have their logistical challenges.

I recommend coming here because it’s super relaxing and fun at the same time. The boaters were friendly and the boats itself gave a cool vibe to the trip. You have many options like snorkeling, walking the beach, swimming, and having a picnic too! There’s one island that has a snack stand with fish balls too.

Beautiful gem on the Southern tip of Leyte. Cool drinks, good food, friendly staff and honest owners. We found this place and couldn't be happier. The scrambled chicken was to die for!! Worth the drive and can't wait to go back!!

I can say we are lucky enough to have the island with less tourist around. We have explored and appreciated the whole Island for at least a 20-minute walk. It also has a marine sanctuary at the back part. I really hope the local government would maintain and find ways to preserve the Island’s Beauty.

Clean environment, the faculty and staff incharge of all tourist destinations like at the beach resort, food court, guesthouse, pavilon were all kind and respectful to all guests. Along with that the curfew system was really executed and the guards also strictly performing their jobs. All students and visitors to enter inside campus were all registered in order to keep the safety of the campus and the students.

We were curious about the red beach and thought maybe the sand is red, but it has deeper meaning along with the history... You will find Gen. DouGlas MacArthur and his men. Its quite a walk from the highway going there....
