Great experience! Guide was kind and courteous! Food was delicious, islands were beautiful! It is a long journey from pick up to the first island, but definitely worth it. Highly recommend.

This was an AMAZING DAY & we loved the tour. Most importantly, DON’T be dissuaded by reviews that complain about the drive from the city to the port. Is it long - yes, but you get to see a lot of the countryside/rainforest and it’s an opportunity to talk with your driver Juan was so awesome - we connected the day prior via WhatsApp (make sure to give them your number when you confirm) and really made the day great, also, don’t be dissuaded by the windy road … yes, it’s like a roller coaster at times, but the drivers do this every day & it was fascinating! There is a stop at a gas station before the windy part for restrooms & snacks.

The history & info about the Guna people and the Guna Yala was really interesting. The transition to our boat and Guna guide for the day was smooth. The islands were amazing … we stopped on 3 and also at the “Natural Pool” which is a shallow area where people could snorkel, enjoy the super clear water! Time at each island was really well thought out … 1 to 1.5 hrs at each and the meal (fried fish or chicken or I think a veg option) was good.

This was an amazing day … just do it!

This tour is not for the traveler that wants to sit around and lounge and relax. Be ready to be on the go, to pack your bag and leave each island early for a full day of adventuring. You will be sleeping in really rustic accommodations - so just be prepared for that.

Also be prepared to immerse yourself in the culture of the Guna Yala people - they live very similar to how they've lived for decades and it's an amazing cultural experience .

Some of the islands that you'll visit will be very nice with clean bathrooms and information posted whereas other places will feel like you're waiting around to see what's gonna happen. You'll meet people who are with you for one boat ride but then part with you to head to another island for the evening and then you'll see them the next day. It's all part of the fun!

Make sure to put your suitcases or bags on a table when you go to bed because you never know what's gonna happen overnight. We woke up on our last morning after a big storm hit our island to 6 inches of rain underneath our beds! It was mental, but we went with it, and after breakfast, the water was gone, the sun came out, and we enjoyed the rest of the day.

The views were amazing. Clear Blue water. Snorkeling was good at some places. Food and rooms, well dont expect much and you will be fine.

If you like your trip well organized its not for you. I never knew where and when I was going on a excursion. It was all good for me because I like going with the flow.

You change islands every night and you move around 3-4 islands during the day.

The one Island I dont recommand is Aroma. The food and cabin was below average.

While the views were amazing, we selected English tour guide. We didn’t get any. We were expecting to meet and greet the Guna Yala people and learn how they live, etc, like we do with the Embera people on that tour. However when we arrived, we were told in Spanish that we would not be getting to see how the Guna Yala people lived, but rather all we get to do is swim and snorkel on each of the 4 islands. While the time spent on the 4 islands is more than sufficient, the amenities needs to be a lot cleaner, especially if you know you are dealing with tourists. Apart from wanting an English Tour guide when you selected that option, the facilities for the tourists were poor and the first and second islands are very smelly. I come from two countries with indigenous people and their respective experiences and we don’t ever give this experience to tourists. Their facilities should always be clean and tidy, food should always be cooked in sanitary conditions, and you make them feel welcomed and appreciated in their language. This is not the case for the San Blas islands tour that we got in this option. When it was time to serve us lunch, there was a lot of confusion and we were initially told no while foreigners from Europe got served and we who were from the Caribbean, got served last, even though we paid multiple weeks before. When we got served, we were told our names were not even on the list. When we were being transported from boat to boat, our drivers changed which we didn’t mind, however when we got back to Panama from San Blas islands, this tour operator switched our drivers, and we were made to sit in the back of a 7 seater Toyota Prado where you are made to sit in the most uncomfortable position for a few hours while you return to the hotel. Our initial driver who brought us didn’t show up, where we were in the standard back seat of a Toyota Fortuner that was a lot more comfortable. When we complained to the tour operator, we were told that they did this because the other driver didn’t have enough to make a complete trip. How is this possible when the same driver brought us in the first place? A complete trip meant making at least 2 tourists extremely uncomfortable in the backseat of a 7 seater SUV.

If you are looking for a last minute trip like I did, this is the one for you. I wanted to spend a weekend with my daughter on our last day in Panama and we came across this tour. They gave us welcome drinks to start the day. We enjoyed the islands with their beaches and crystal clear waters, the tour includes visits to other islands. All the staff from the driver and our guide were very attentive to everything we needed.
The food was delicious, I ordered lobster and my daughter had fish. It is definitely a trip that I would take again if I return to Panama and I recommend it 100%.

I went March for 3 nights. If you are up for basics, on sandy desert islands, away from home comforts this is absolute heaven. Eg this is not a hotel. It is basic shelters on a beautiful desert island. There is a new road just complete (March 2024) from Panama City so it’s not bumpy like the last reviews say….but it is very windy. Have faith in the process. You will never know what is happening or where you will go - it will not be islands as listed on the itinerary but you won’t be disappointed… so…. relax, get to your most chilled place and know that someone will bring a boat round and shout your name at some point and all will be well. We went to 3 islands a day and slept on a different one each night. One had no power, one you poured water down the toilet to flush but that was more that I expected. Some had power and flushing toilets. Peaceful heaven… day trippers come onto the island for 2/3 hours then leave it just to your group. I would not recommend this for day trippers- it is too far a journey.. stay at least a night, 2 if you can and 3 was great. If you need detailed plans day to day this ain’t for you. If you can let go and go with the flow I have never been anywhere more beautiful. You are safe. Tou will be fed chiecken and rice/ fish and rice/ breakfast eggs…You will have food but bring own water and a few snacks from the gas stop on the way. Most places you can buy water and beer and Coca Cola. And even cocktails at some. At this time of year you only need swimsuit shorts and something to cover up from the sun. It is hot at night so do not need anything warm at this time of year. Some swimming shoes useful for snorkelling around sunken wrecks or one of the rocky islands. Because you are largely in the water and travelling by the local boats you will be wet all the time so just wear your swimsuit and a clever up. . You don’t need anything here. It will only be sandy and wet.. Leave your suitcases at your hotel. Most have free storage is you ask. You have to climb in and out of the boats often from the shore/ the water … if you ask loud enough before you set off they will put a ladder in boat which really helps but we didn’t get that til day 3. But we all helped eachother in and out. No mosquitoes on islands. Bring power bank cos you’ll want to take a lot of photos. You’ll see clear water and amazing underwater wildlife. If there was some information that would have made things better but we learnt there is none and you’ll only find out what is happening when something is happening but it works!!! Bring waterproof phone case and bring Colombian pesos you may want drinks, or to buy things from local tribes. Probably the best thing I have ever done.

Our kids loved every minute of this trip. They spent their time exploring the
beaches and playing with the local kids on the islands. We had a few small
problems at the port as they organized everyone since there were many
people but the trip was well worth it.

Overall the trip was enjoyable and the San Blas islands were beautiful. They picked us up from our hotel and took us to boats to visit a few islands. The pricing was not very transparent, as they told us after booking/paying that we needed to (withdrawal) $25 cash per person to pass through a Guna border. This was not clear and I didn’t appreciate the extra charges and fees. We almost had a great English speaking guide for the drive down but they ended up switching us into a different vehicle for the long drive north. I am sure the guide was fine but it was only in Spanish, so I missed a lot of the history/explaination/meaning that I would have gotten from our original driver. After an enjoyable day of island stops, free time, and a good guided tour of one of the more-populated islands and some interactions with the Guna people, we began the trip back to Panama City. The terrain was very mountainous but our second driver was very erratic and I felt very sick on the return trip. Again, I enjoyed most aspects of the trip itself but had a couple concerns with transportation, translation, and lack of transparency in pricing. We chose this tour over cheaper options because they emphasized the cultural component, which we liked, but I didn’t appreciate having to pay more again out of pocket after booking.

Pleasant trip and wonderful beaches. Food was great too. Try the Coco Loco. Bring ginger pills if you arent comfy riding a roller coaster for 2h straight. The hills of San Blas are a nice little bonus experience but most will need a little something for the nausea to enjoy them.

Amazing! Love the people I ended up with, had a great time. Both tour guides were great! (The driver, Adrian and then the Guna Yala guide). The beaches, Caribbean Sea is beautiful! 100% would do it again 🫶🏽😁

Beautiful little island (Perro Chico), gorgeous snorkelling at the shipwreck just meters from the shore. Awful, awful food unless you pay extra for the lobster.
A strange lady there who seems to dissaprove of women like me travelling alone, or maybe that's just how she presents, this is a Guna family.

Great experience from the word go.
Be aware it takes time to get there from Panama City. Took 4 hours from 5:00AM hotel pick-up before your toes hit island sands. 3 1/4 to get to the Marina. However, the SUV we travelled in was newish and clean. The driver only had rudimentary English skills, which made for limited discussion during a long trip. But he was pleasant and accommodating. The last hour's drive is in the mountains before you hit the sea. Twisty-turny, uppy-downy you go. If you have a modicum of being subject to car sickness, take a Gravol. If you are on a tour where you might get stuck in the back seats of an old Honda CRV, take several. Frankly, i think a lot has to do with the temperment of the driver. This private tour vehicle and its driver were terrific. I watched and he seldom went over 40kph in the mountains and he wasn't offended or challenged by several other vehicles taking risks to pass him. He calmly drove on, for which i was appreciative. We have taken six tours this trip and note that every single tour guide and driver are male. Brings to mind that a high school boy's locker room, after the game, with various air-clouded AXE body spray assaults confronting you, the impact has nothing on some of these guys. If you have scent sensitivity, i would suggest requesting a scent free driver. I had to ride with the window open all the way. The islands were wonderful but you have to be aware that while the boat and guides are private to you, the places you go are not. One aspect of this excursion that was unique to the private tour was the guides stopped say a hundred meters or so off one of the islands, dropped the anchor, and we snorkeled with them looking at sting rays, etc. Apparently i saw a shark, as proven by the video the guide took during our swim, but i didn't realize i saw it. Ha. The shark was the same colour as the coral. Terrific tour, worth every penny. enjoy.
