What travelers are saying
- HandsomeXOHong Kong, China9,845 contributionsTokyo Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, residence of the Naito family during the Edo period, is a public botanical garden featuring a wide range of plants, including quite a number of endangered species. It is famous for being one of the best Hanami (flower viewing) spots in Tokyo during the cherry blossom season.
NAKED Sakura Night Garden 2023 is Gyoen’s first collaboration with NAKED Inc., a creative company. The light show simply turns the garden into a magically illuminated realm with cherry blossom being the main theme. Admission tickets (Klook Special Promotion: JPY 1,600/adult; JPY 1,400/senior) can easily be purchased online in advance. Paperless transactions are simple and environmentally friendly; all you need is the QR code. Expect to walk on grass, so wear comfortable shoes. Although wheelchairs are available for free rental, the walk from the entrance to the rental booth is approximately 10 minutes. Enjoy the view and take lots of photos and videos!Written February 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A tremendous blend of temples and history alongside the excitement and the food and shopping streets. Absolutely a must visit. And if you venture down to the river you can get a cruise and also go over to other temples.Written March 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - sunrise99Yorkshire417 contributionsI found this place very interesting. Lots of areas to visit and history to take in. Evidence of community use. We saw parents with a baby blessing their young baby and a wedding party with a happy couple. Evidence of a camphor tree planted in 1920 caught my eye.Written March 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Avinash NPune District, India104 contributionsA crowded tourist spot for first timers in Japan. Can be avoided for a priority visitation and kept only for the visit to the SensoJi Temple. Surrounded by small shops selling souvenirs and snacks. Close walk from Asakusa Station. Old japan vibe mixed with tourist influx.Written March 4, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- camo72Sydney, Australia93 contributionsTokyo Tower is a good way to spend an hour with the family, when in Tokyo. The views are great and glass deck sections are hair-raising. It is quite a lengthy walk from the nearest train station, so be prepared for that if with kids. There's also not much else in the area to see... but it's still worth the effort, for the views alone.Written March 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Conley ACalifornia29 contributionsUeno Park is a Tokyo gem that seamlessly blends natural beauty with cultural richness. This expansive park in the heart of the city offers a refreshing escape from the urban buzz. Walking through the cherry blossom-lined pathways or by the serene Shinobazu Pond feels like a tranquil retreat. The park is a cultural hub, housing museums like the Tokyo National Museum and Ueno Zoo, making it an ideal destination for both nature lovers and history enthusiasts. Ueno Park's seasonal festivals, vibrant street performances, and the iconic Ueno Toshogu Shrine add an extra layer of charm. Whether you're seeking relaxation, cultural exploration, or a leisurely day outdoors, Ueno Park promises a delightful experience in Tokyo.Written January 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sarah B2 contributionsAn amazing experience. At one point I had 4 owls on me. Truly a once in a lifetime experience. Also, great for people who are easily over stimulated. The quite environment for the owls was great for my son with ASD.Written March 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Too Poor 2Baltimore, MD348 contributionsSomething about 3000 people crossing a complex intersection makes people want to see it, and of course, do it. Unfortunately we were there on a rainy day and the crowds were not as dense. But the sight of umbrellas moving in unison seems just as appealing. We even paid for an 8th floor view of the intersection in one of the buildings to see it from a higher vantage point. The area is a high concentration of stores, restaurants, traffic and nooks and crannies. Worth exploring all around, but not in the rain.Written March 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- bcheongShanghai, China26,685 contributionsA huge train station with a 100 year history. Serving JR, Metro and Shinkansen lines, we took the Shinkansen to Odawara, Lake Ashi. - Boris81 contributionsOne of the landmarks of Tokyo. The district has a lot of attractions, as well as a big amount of tech stores. Got a feeling, that most of the things there are overpriced. You can get better deals if you happen to travel to Osaka for example.
Aside from that - must visit and take a walk in the area. Maybe try some arcades or maiden cafes if that's your thingWritten January 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There is a great walkway near the area and you can get close to the statue. Walking around in the evening and I can imagine everything is hoping during the day.Written November 12, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NorfolkTraveller22Diss, UK150 contributionsWell worth a trip - lovely exhibition, amazing building. I spent around 3 hours looking at the various displays. Truly fascinating and gives a great understanding of the Edo period.
Staff were fantastic.

The architecture of the museum itself is an art piece. The Japanese garden is also a plus. All in all it was a pleasant visit.Written January 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
