So lucky to be here on such a wonderful day when there was such a great atmosphere and so many wonderful sights to see. A tremendous blend of temples and history alongside the excitement and the food and shopping streets. Absolutely a must visit. And if you venture down to the river you can get a cruise and also go over to other temples.

I found this place very interesting. Lots of areas to visit and history to take in. Evidence of community use. We saw parents with a baby blessing their young baby and a wedding party with a happy couple. Evidence of a camphor tree planted in 1920 caught my eye.

A crowded tourist spot for first timers in Japan. Can be avoided for a priority visitation and kept only for the visit to the SensoJi Temple. Surrounded by small shops selling souvenirs and snacks. Close walk from Asakusa Station. Old japan vibe mixed with tourist influx.

Ueno Park is a Tokyo gem that seamlessly blends natural beauty with cultural richness. This expansive park in the heart of the city offers a refreshing escape from the urban buzz. Walking through the cherry blossom-lined pathways or by the serene Shinobazu Pond feels like a tranquil retreat. The park is a cultural hub, housing museums like the Tokyo National Museum and Ueno Zoo, making it an ideal destination for both nature lovers and history enthusiasts. Ueno Park's seasonal festivals, vibrant street performances, and the iconic Ueno Toshogu Shrine add an extra layer of charm. Whether you're seeking relaxation, cultural exploration, or a leisurely day outdoors, Ueno Park promises a delightful experience in Tokyo.

Something about 3000 people crossing a complex intersection makes people want to see it, and of course, do it. Unfortunately we were there on a rainy day and the crowds were not as dense. But the sight of umbrellas moving in unison seems just as appealing. We even paid for an 8th floor view of the intersection in one of the buildings to see it from a higher vantage point. The area is a high concentration of stores, restaurants, traffic and nooks and crannies. Worth exploring all around, but not in the rain.

The 5th avenue of tokyo with many luxury stores and brands. Even if you’re not into overpriced stuff, there are many restsurants and cafes, and malls. Plus you can just take a walk and people watch

Accessible from the vast lobby of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building this free activity whisks you up to the top in superfast lifts. Well organised by friendly staff this is unmissable. Terrific 360 degree views from the top.

A huge train station with a 100 year history. Serving JR, Metro and Shinkansen lines, we took the Shinkansen to Odawara, Lake Ashi. Like a city in itself, lots of shopping malls, restaurants around it

One of the landmarks of Tokyo. The district has a lot of attractions, as well as a big amount of tech stores. Got a feeling, that most of the things there are overpriced. You can get better deals if you happen to travel to Osaka for example.

Aside from that - must visit and take a walk in the area. Maybe try some arcades or maiden cafes if that's your thing

We arrived at night but this is one of the first things I saw when we arrived in the area. There is a great walkway near the area and you can get close to the statue. Walking around in the evening and I can imagine everything is hoping during the day.

Came here for the fall colors on Dec 04, 2023. This park is just next to Meiji Shrine Inner Garden. Golden gingko painted the garden in cheerful tone. A very relaxing walk to start the day right. Please check out the pictures.

This is one of many crowded and dense shopping areas in tokyo. It is located near one of the large temples and shrines about a mile from Shibuya Crossing. We were told this is where the young teens hang out as a destination of sorts. Lots of unique stores and food and dessert places along the 4-5 block stretch.

It is an attractive spot where you can feel the local Japanese atmosphere. There are so many bars with great atmospheres that it can be difficult to decide where to go, but you'll probably end up going to several anyway, so we recommend going as soon as there's an empty spot!!
If you want to enjoy Shinjuku's nightlife, this is definitely recommended.

Easy access from Ueno station. Multiple streets run under the train lines & have loads of quirky shops, great for that typical Japan item. Wander & explore - make sure you go up & down the various streets. Loads of tat shops but between them you can find a unique gem.
Also, make sure you visit the shrine hidden down a side street
