The Gundam statue was visible from the train which drew us back to it after we visited the Miraikan Museum.

We happened to be in the area at the 1pm and it repeated every two hours from 11:00 until 17:00. The transformation itself was pretty quick and finished in around one minute. Nothing too exciting. The night shows, starting at 19:00 and tan every half hour until 21:30, was supposed to be more exciting with additional flashing lights.

If you’re a fan of Gundam then this would be a must see. It was built to be life size and was a lot larger than the first Gundam statue I saw outside the Siam Paragon Mall in Bangkok. After viewing, one can also go inside the Diver City Plaza and shop at the Gundam Base store at the top.

Another thing in the area that's good to look at for a few mins but not worth making the trip for on its own. The whole Bay area is definitely worth a visit to wonder around and see many architectural bits and pieces, statues, Rainbow bridge etc.

The story became legend and a small statue was erected in the dog’s memory in front of Shibuya Station. The surrounding plaza is Tokyo’s most popular rendezvous point to visit as well.

Saigo Takamori is a national hero who made a great contribution to Meiji Restoration. However he later quit the government and became a leader of revolted Samurais. After the defeat of that civil war, called Sainan no Eki, he committed Harakiri suicide. He is still very popular and so many people come here to take a picture of this statue.

Occupying a strategic corner of the outer gardens. The statue looks great against either the city or gardens. A fitting tribute to the famous figure.

So many smokers crowding the area around and right behind where it is allowed after exiting the station. Cold be a nice monument but totally avoid or quickly walk by and snap a pic if you don’t smoke. If you do, have a cigarette and enjoy a Japanese statue of the moyai modeed after the Easter island heads.

Lots of animals at corners allow you to not use google maps and let yourself roam freely throughout the nihonbashi district. Of course photo opportunities and don't forget to read the small print! Often most of the statues in an around the district are at least bilingual. They tell wonderful stories and get you to understand a little more of Japan.

Soon after leaving Shibamata Station, we were greeted by the bronze statue of Tora-san. If you don’t know who Futen no Tora is, you ought to read about him and the movie online or if you can, in Japanese on the plaque at the base of the statue.

This statue seemed to be the most interesting site in town for some: loads of Japanese tourists were taking their photos with the statue. I think some folks were more excited by the statue than anything else here.

Very underwhelming and you can’t get very close to the statue. Still fun to take a photo with.

A better option is to see the Godzilla Head (lights up, roars and smokes at the top of every hour) and walk 10 minutes to the Godzilla store.

It’s outside the Natural History Museum. It’s full size model of a blue whale. I’m not sure there is any more to say on the subject.

I don’t know exactly the story of Komatsunomiya, but he is a member of the imperial family at the beginning of Meiji. It is said that he founded Japanese Red Cross. This statue, ridding on horse, is probably one of the most beautiful statues in Ueno Park.
