I spent a couple of hours with the patient, sweet and delightful Momo, who guided me along the street, pointing out the characteristics of each of the shops, relating their history and explaining the Japanese labels, before ending in a place where she knew there were bathroom facilities and a couple of good cafes to rest my weary self. This then enabled me to double back to the shops I most admired, to carefully select the items I knew I couldn't find at home. It was lovely to have someone to chat and share the fabric appreciation and vibe of this busy street. It may take some patience, though, to find the treasures that really catch your eye.
