The sculptures and landscape of this museum are amazing. We love how everything was put together - again showcasing how artistic and clever the Japanese are in their designs. The Picasso exhibition was also interesting. We love the stained glass tower the most due to its colour and the stories it tells. The grounds are so big that you can easily spend 2 hours here.

These were the biggest gondolas we have been in holding up to 18 people. It was a scenic trip that took us up to the active volcano.

Wanted to see mt fuji and chose this lake (1 of 5 fuji lakes)

Took a 30 min shinkansen ride from Tokyo station and then a 1 hr taxi ride (USD75 one way) from Odawara station

Then took what looks like a pirate ship for a quick 25 min pitstop on the lake. A round trip is about 1.5 hrs which we didn’t choose. We took business class which has a sheltered cabin plus private deck area

Wasn’t breathtaking and maybe not worth the cab ride here

While on a tour to Tokyo we took a bus tour with a cruise. We could see this beautiful shrine from the cruise. A must visit tour for people visiting Tokyo.

A unique ride on a historic rail line. It seems to serve the locals very well. It was a slow smooth ride with an idyllic view of the mountain scenery, shops and houses so close to the rail line. It was a short steep ride to the stop where we had to disembark in order to catch the cable car. Short but sweet ride.

One of the best museums I have ever been at. I really loved the contemporary pieces from the Japan artists. Many of those were about nature.

I found myself letting out the voice of surprise seeing the view from Ropeway Car.
The sight of smoke billing out of the valley was really powerful.
I visited on a clear day in December, and I was able to enjoy the view of snow-capped Mt.FUJI!!

    – This is a wonderland of Venetian Glass exquisite and beautifully presented in a walk through museum full of colour and sparkle – the open air grounds feature a bridge, water mill a lake and an upmarket restaurant ( seperate no charge entrance fee) – we were here on a Sunday with lots of visitors who were predominately Japanese families – entrance was 1800 yen on the pricey side but to me well worth the value.

The museum has an extensive collection of ceramics, painting, lacquerware, and bronzes. I easily spent 2 hours in the well displayed exhibit rooms. Highly recommend for anyone with a serious interest in Japanese and Asian art. The museum is near a Hakone Tozan Bus H stop for those with the Hakone FreePass.

Beautiful grounds and building. Exhibition was exquisite and the souvenir shop had many beautiful and whimsical gifts. If you have the time snd appetite, you could enjoy a light meal or tea in the adjacent cafe. A delightful surprise in Hakone

If you want to combine a visit to Lake Ashi with a little, easy hike on the lakeside then Onshi Hakone Park is your place to be. It is a serene and not to strenuous hike, maybe even walk, that I can also recommend to elderly visitors of the city. If the weather is fortitudinous you might even catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji and even if not the remains of traditional fishing villages and the calm nature will have been worth your time anyways.

Beautiful park with many opportunities for photos despite in winter - believe it will be even better in spring/summer. Free entry with Hakone Pass. Recommended to start from Koen-shimo station instead (2nd station from Gora station) as the park is located on a steep slope. There are 2 entries - one from Gora station (bottom of park) and one near Koen-shimo station (top of park) - so it is easier to walk down slope instead of up slope when you explore the park.
