#1 of 89 Sights & Landmarks in Matsue
It's a small grounds and easy to view, but also is very beautiful and one of my favorite night viewing castles that I have experienced.
The wooden structure built in 1611 is mostly original and after removing your shoes you will climb extremely steep stairs to the top level watchtower with 360-degree views.

And very nice peer view too.
#3 of 89 Sights & Landmarks in Matsue
Particularly noteworthy is the enormous woven rope that divides the "inner" from "outer" areas (depicted in the photo for this site).
#5 of 89 Sights & Landmarks in Matsue
The view from the traditional tea room in the facility lets you see Matsue castle sitting prominently above the garden and castle town fence.
Who wants to get a view on this architecture needs to pay this town a visit whilst in the area.

The shrine is part of a large complex of neighboring religious sites that exemplify the fusion of Buddhist and Shinto influences that is particular to the Kumano region.
