- Sivan MDallas, TX428 contributionsYou want to get groceries? What about clothes or even medicine? If you’re bored, there’s also a bowling alley and arcade. Maybe even baseball if you’re feeing like it. This massive 7 floor mall also has 5 basement levels and contains so much packed all together. They have great restaurants and many unique brands to shop as well. If you’re in Hsinchu, this is a great place to spend multiple days in as there is so much to explore here.Written 30 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tessa EHsinchu, Taiwan2 contributionsNanliao has a vibrant fish market, a large grassy area recently landscaped, a large harbor and a small one surrounded by restaurants. The wind always blows and is perfect for kites. The cycle track along the river between Hsinchu downtown and the small harbor makes for pleasant exercise. There is also a cycle path all the way down the coast which is very popular on weekends. The best pizza in Hsinchu is to be found next to the Mazu Temple overlooking the small harbor. Village Cafe serves excellent food with a Spanish influence. The whole area is being landscaped and will be beautiful when finished. Nanliao is the place to go to fly kites, to cycle, to view the sea, and to eat good food.Written 22 December 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jeffry bEssendon, Australia12,863 contributionsNational Tsing Hua University is in the suburbs of Hsinchu, the centre of Taiwan's high-tech industry. . It is a very picturesque campus, it is worth taking a wander around. The lake is very pretty, but don't go swimming, the water is treacherous. - Jeffry bEssendon, Australia12,863 contributionsThis scenic ride along the coast near Hsinchu is popular with visitors. You can hire a bike for however long it takes to make the 17 km (10 mile) trip along the coast. You get attractive sea views. Hsinchu is south of Taipei, it's easy to get to. The bikes are mostly in good condition, examine your bike carefully and if it is faulty, they will happily fix the problem. By the way, take some water and keep hydrated.Written 17 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- cebgelClifton Park, NY213 contributionsThis canal runs the center of Hsinchu. Right off the main traffic circle. Its a good break from the constant hum of scooters and motorbikes. I nice walk thru the park that boarders the canal. Filled with fish (a couple large gold fish in there to make it pretty).Written 12 May 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - zunzazunCanmore, Canada221 contributionsIt may be small but for the small entry fee its very good value for money. A nice half day activity, just takes a few hrs to go around it all. - David HUnion City, CA8,054 contributionsVisiting Principle Hsin’s residence which reminds some of my Good old Senior High School era. The residence is a Japanese style house which is well maintained with a lot of Principle Hsin’s memories. He is indeed, a great educator who has led by examples. Back then, the college entrance exam was the most important task for any Senior a high School students. However, we still need to learn music, painting, swimming, and mountain running. My music was flunked and the music teacher was so talented to name many different eggs (score 0) for my classmates. The other teacher i still remembered is the “Old Flat” history teacher who was a philosopher. There were several “ great teachers” back then to guide my life.Written 16 August 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jeffrybKeysborough, Australia371 contributionsWhen Chiang Kai-shek retreated to Taiwan, his soldiers and their families lived in villages like these. They weren't pretty but they were only meant to be temporary, until they recaptured the Mainland. You can also see another example at 4-4-South Village in Taipei.Written 6 October 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - boocat149BC68 contributionsGlass Museum of Hsinchu City consists of a number of various glass items - blown flowers and vases - bowls, insect and people figures - stained glass etc. A jail cell was puzzling. A few people appeared to be excited to be there - me not so much albeit the artwork was nice and very pleasing to view. Downstairs - be certain to stand behind the line when viewing a glass item or you will chastised for your indiscretion.
Take time to stroll about the park and a short walk walk out of the park there is a small market with flowers, food stalls and trinkets for sale.Written 28 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
