Worth it.
The design is still amazing, since 23 years.
Much glamour, gold and some kitsch inside, but still unique and impressive.
We now again stayed four nights and enjoyed most:
Spa and gym are both excellent
Pool with sea view.
Great French restaurant one star on top.
Excellent Italian at the aquarium.
XXL suite of two levels- unique view.

They offered an international buffet, the cruise was along the creek which lasted well over an hour. They had music and friendly staff. You get to see an old Dubai and New Dubai on different sides, it does give you a new perspetive to look at life. It's such an authentic experience, as it's the traditional way to cross from one side to the other. It only takes a few minutes and 1-4 Dirhams, but let me tell you, the views and the atmosphere are totally worth it. I am so glad we decided to go last minute. The view is insane! We spent quite some time upstairs seeing the Palm (and Dubai) from all sides of the observation desk. The aquarium is huge and we spent a deal of time watching all the fish.
The underwater zoo is very good for young children, my daughter is 2 and really loved seeing all the animals.
Would say the penguins were great to see but the enclosure is far to small for them. There are several restaurants there. There is a paid parking but you can get it for free if you dine in. I recommend it for day and night since the view is stunning. I don't like that in some souvenir shops inside the souq the sellers are quite persistent trying to sell you stuff in a very high price in my opinion, since it is very touristic place. Of course there is no price on the products so they tell you what they want. The last time i visited there was one seller who was trying to convince me to buy something and he got very aggressive while i was politely telling him that i am not interested to buy anything. He sounded very rude to me and the other lady i was with. I did not want him to get in trouble and i did not report this incident. The seller was foreigner, and i understand that he wanted to make some money and he may had a bad day. However if you are not intend to buy anything i recommend to not even stop to see something especially if you are only ladies. We've been there on numerous instances and never were bothered by anyone. Some people will try to sell you stuff (drinks, tours) but they're not insisting and very polite overall. There are public showers and toilets but not everywhere. There are areas where you can swim at night too.
