You've got to try the Abra ride over Dubai Creek! It's such an authentic experience, as it's the traditional way to cross from one side to the other. It only takes a few minutes and 1-4 Dirhams, but let me tell you, the views and the atmosphere are totally worth it. I highly recommend going during sunset—it's absolutely magical.

Great place to buy for Gold. Numerous shops to choose from! I came with my friends to buy gold and ended up with pretty decent ones with affordable price. It tends to get crowded a lot even on weekdays or when gold price drops so be ready. You can bargain for the price also.

The boardwalk is a very nice area to have a nice walk in the evening and enjoy the creek breeze. There are coffee houses and lights.

This was a very interesting array of many stores, and certainly worth a short visit when in the area.

In 1995, this was a landmark of Dubai, as anyone and everyone would identify their direction from this location. The building has undergone massive renovation, since I had last seen it in 1995.

It’s a pity that the footfall was not as numerous as a mall of that size would expect it and that is purely because of the number of latest designed malls that have come up since the time of Al-Ghurair centre.

Having said so, you would still find some of the more recognised brands in this mall such as Skechers, Carefour, etc.

I visited the Spice Souk and Gold Souk on 11 May 2023 during my 4th visit to Dubai. What should have been a nice relaxing stroll through the Spice Souk to look at all the things on display and buy something which might caught my eye turned into a stressful outing due to the vendors who became agitated when I said I'm not there to buy something specific I just want to relax and have a look around Everybody wanted to sell me a pashmina (while it was about 40°C outside) or dragged me by my arm into their shop to try and convince me to buy spices, teas, ornaments etc. And when I was not interested a card with photos of fake designer watches and handbags would suddenly appear from a pocket and be offered to you at "good prices". The Gold Souk turned out to be a calmer more relaxing place for a stroll. I think on my next visit to Dubai I will rather not visit the Spice Souk again.

Rather an entirety of different markets, shops and restaurants than an idyllic waterfront market. The 2017 complex in Jebel Ali, Deira is 15 km north from downtown Dubai. Mostly visited by car. I walked there from Bur Dubai (not recommended because the route is alongside busy motorways).

Fish and seafood, meats, vegetables and fruits, spices and herbs, etc. all on offer in neatly separated sections. I suppose also for hygienic reasons. Do not expect low prices. Most customers are local and walk around with lots of cash. For them prices do not seem very important, they want good quality and quantity. I did not observe any bargaining.

There is a popular fish restaurant at the waterfront.

We took the Metro to the Dubai Creek at the Spice Souk and had a lovely afternoon. The souk is the traditional style with vendors stalls and stores in rows, many selling the same products. We do not appreciate being harassed so as soon as we passed a vendor sitting quietly outside his shop we went in. I'm not a driven barterer and the prices were fair so we picked up some jasmine flowers for tea, some butterfly tea mix, and a 1/2 kilo shelled raw pistachios. Great buys. The best of the souk is people watching. The visual effects of the mounded spices on display reminded me of the spice bazaar in Istanbul.

Good place, barely anybody in there, so you can have it all to yourself. The exhibit contains some very interesting personal objects of important Emirati women, lots of info about women's role in the UAE. The second floor has walls filled with poems (amazing!). The place has great energy. The lady at the entrance is also a great guide and she can answer many questions.

All the district around here is so very interesting and a breath of fresh air from the skyscrapers of downtown or the marina.
The little streets are full of charm with little shops with wonderful smells and the textile souk is just behind...it was the most highlight of the day!

Good mall for budget shopping at Dubai. Gold Souk is also in vicinity and could be clubbed for visiting the same day. Very polite staff and helpful security staff. Taxi drops right at the gate. Unlike Dubai mall, its not huge, so one can shop without getting dead tired. A must visit place.
