- dianedinkyDunfermline, UK1,346 contributionsYou can do different routes (see ferry website) but I did the 2hr trip from Al Ghubaiba to the other terminal at the Marina. I specifically picked this rather than a dhow boat or yacht cruise because it covered the downtown area for the classic skyline view rather than just Palm down to the Burj Al Arab.
I was not disappointed.
You can get super photos of the old town area, the dhows, downtown skyline, Burj Khalifa, canal, Burj Al Arab, Atlantis hotels and Marina area all from the angle of the water - which I really liked. It was also only about £10 for this trip so really economical.
There are seats in the ferry but hard to get good photos through the windows so best to be outside. There are no seats outside and you cannot sit on anything there without getting a row so be prepared to stand for a while if doing this way. You need to sit down inside when at one of the stations but then they let you back outdoors again.
There is a small kiosk for sandwiches and snacks including hot sandwiches like tuna.
The ferry leaves at a set time and this journey is only at 1pm either from Al Ghubaiba or leaving from the Marina and doing the other way, so there is no return journey with this particular route (there is with the shorter ones).
It goes a bit faster than you think and you need to hold on to keep steady at times so be careful when standing outside.

There are 2 parts to visit:
The modern area with the Frame, Mall etc. and the old area- where we stayed.
I found the people of Dubai friendly and helpful.
I really enjoyed it, even though I did not go shopping.

We stayed at Atlantis and we used this to go inland. - Lara K14 contributionsWe took twice from airport to hotel and from hotel to Dubai mall. It was excellent. But i rate 4 stars, because one of the drivers from Dubai mall refused to take us to hotel, saying that the way is blocked and we have to go to another level. It turned out, it was a lie. Also we should have taken his detsils and reported him. Be ware of unofficial taxis, if they don't have any taxi signs on them, do Not take it! For half day tour we went with minibus to Mosque , Gold Souk , Atlantis hotel then split with group by private car to Dubai Frame. And there he was. Very helpful. Very friendly and chatty. When our nominated driver was not so close he arranged for a closer driver and we were on our way in 15 minutes. Our driver was fabulous. He was a great conversationalist and found his way around the traffic. Whatever you might want or need he try his best to accomodate. Driving skills amazing, he avoid an accident (not hisbfault at all) impressively. The vehicle with the driver Mohib, remained with us for the 3 days we planned sight seeing in Abu Dhabi. Everything went great. I would absolutely recommend the company for private vehicle and driver tours of the UAE. On our last day there, we needed to check out of our accommodation in the morning and we had two events booked for the afternoon, before we would travel to Abu Dhabi. I researched reviews about this company and we decided to try it. We did not need to worry, the service was very reliable. We left our luggage at reception with our name and phone number on a sheet of paper on top. We asked the receptionist if this was okay and to let us know if there was any problem. Baggage Taxi came and hour after we left and sent us a message and confirmation photo of our luggage that they had collected. Then they met us at the agreed place and time later that evening and phoned us to let us know when they were outside. I didn't even know this type of service existed before now!!
