    The Trek on the Acatenango is on of the best experience of my life; very hard to get on top, you need to hike for 6/7 Hours in very hot temperature during the day;
    We camp somewhere around 3500m in front of the Volcano de Fuego, the view is something exeptional diring the night.. you can see big explosion of lava every 20 mins .
    Than 3am we wake up to start climb the last 500m for the sunrise from the top...
    Something that cant be explained...
    Must do it ones in the life...

    Wow what an experience and adventure! Make sure you work out the week before if you don't go to the gym regularly lol! My daughter and I went up by horseback. My daughter was so proud of me and I was proud of me too! lolol I recommend the trek up the volcano but just wear shoes you don't mind getting dirty and dress comfortably. I had Superman the horse who liked to trot when I only wanted him to walk. lolol

    Loved how friendly our hostess was and the entire experience was centered on teaching rather than selling a product. She made us feel welcome and made sure everyone in a 16-person group had fun. I completely recommend this for anyone who is visiting Antigua, Guatemala. The chocolate is also amazing.

    Pretty arch over the street. Get a picture of the volcano through it if you can too.
    We enjoyed Antigua as so different. Safe to wander. Do wear sensible shoes though, the streets are ALL cobbled with awful gaps and raised ironworks. Pavements are very narrow too. Found the map we had difficult to follow but all easy walking. Lots of interest in buildings and little shops and well as street vendors. Some hustling but they do not linger if you said no thank you.

    Poetry! The music and walk through the museums' gardens in a treat by itself. Than you have the amazing art exhibitions, we loved the old with the new in which they put together ancient mayan art together with modern glass items, was fun. The sculptures and the art was fantastic. Not to be missed.

    Had a blast on an ATV tour with Simoon Tours. First stop Cerro de La Cruz (Hill of the Cross). Gorgeous views of the city! Fernando, our guide, gave us a lovely history of the area & volcanoes. So happy we did this tour that included a coffee plantation and chocolate tour. Well worth the $$

    We visited the church as part of a day tour with our holiday company and fell lucky in that it was approaching Easter, when the flower carpets are being laid. The inside of the church was decorated in a stunning fashion with purple banners and a lovely flower carpet.

    The outside of the church has fantastic decorative architecture.

    If you get the chance to visit this area around Easter be prepared for some stunning decorations and processions.

    As it was Xmas season, they had festivities and it was very crowded, but extremely safe. At no time we felt uneasy. Everyone was very polite and helpful. They also keep it clean. A lot of stores and restaurants and a lot of history.

    Fell in love with this beautiful site. My daughter had her wedding here and it was a fairy tale come to life. Not only are the ruins of the convento unreal but the views are breathtaking . The climate is also perfect. Everything was amazing.

    They charge 40q for foreigners entry. It's been restored only to point to give you understanding of place but not overdone. It's a photographers dream. If you stand close to fountain and do a 360 you can see the past granduer of the place. In its day it must have been a wonderful cloister for the nuns and novices that lived there. The walls are so thick. Well worth the visit and really centrally located in town.
