Wonderful experience! This was a perfect way to spend half the day being introduced to the canal, the wildlife and the jungle, as well as enjoying traditional Panamanian food. Our guide John was exceptional in making the whole experience 5 stars. He was prompt, very knowledgeable with any questions our group had, and gave recommendations for things to do after the activity. I would for sure recommend to anyone visiting Panamá for a weekend or longer!

For the most part it was an awesome experience, spending the first 90 minutes driving in circles in the city on a tour bus going to hotels multiple times is unacceptable! Better scheduling and planning is needed to improve, for that I would not recommend!

I recommend this tour for anyone interested in seeing the Panama Canal and staying in Panama City. The tour company was well organized, checking in several times by email before this trip to confirm everything, including the morning before to confirm the time we needed to be at the marina.

On the boat, the tour guide provided a lot of interesting information about the Canal but wasn't constantly talking and there was plenty of quiet time to enjoy the ride and mingle with other people on the boat. For all Canal tours from this company, they provide you with a healthy sized portion of coffee/breakfast and lunch, which I bring up because the timing of our trip was extremely early (we woke up at 3:45 AM to get there in time to start boarding the boat at 5).

The trip through the canal is a real treat. On the partial/northbound tour, you will get a chance to go through two sets of locks. I'd recommend that unless you're generally a completist, the partial tour should be sufficient for most people, as the experience of going through the locks is the same (I believe the full tour has you going through one more set of locks).

All in all, I recommend this tour and Panama Marine Adventures if you are interested in a tour of the Canal and staying in Panama City.

My wife and I took the Panama Marine Adventures tour on January 21, 2023 - having booked it through Trip Advisor. We were picked up at the Bristol Panama Hotel at 6;00 and we were brought aboard the boat around 6:30 am. We started to move towards the canal around 7 am. The boat is pretty crowded until Gamboa, when many people get off. But even if you don't have an ideal place for shooting photos because of the crowd, it usually works out okay. After Gamboa, there is much more room and I highly recommend staying on the boat through the Gatun Locks, where you get an excellent view of how they work. We docked on the Pacific side around 5:30-6:00 pm and had a long bus ride back to the very crowded Panama City pier. There was some confusion for people looking for the correct van back to their hotel, but we bumped into our driver without a problem (the same one who took us in the morning). We got back to the hotel around 8 pm, so it was a long day. The food was buffet style and was more than adaquate, with both breakfast and lunch served between 8 am and 12 am (before the Gamboa drop off). Then there was an afternoon snack. The rest rooms were on the bottom deck and were sufficient. It was a trip I would recommend.

Fantastic experience! I cannot imagine a better tour guide than Sorhay nor a better food tour for Panama City. Prior to taking the tour, my wife and I had explored some of the city and restaurants on our own. Sorhay took those past experiences into account and designed a plan uniquely for us. The tour is about so much more than food. Sorhay also told us of the history, culture, people and the beautiful jungle of Panama. We even caught a glimpse of two sloths in the wild. Highly recommend this tour. Enjoy.

Super fun, informative, and interesting class! All of my kids (oldest is 9) enjoyed this activity. Luay (sp?) was very knowledgeable and answered everyone’s questions and did a great job of incorporating the kids while still keeping it interesting for adults. Also, she spoke English really well.

We've been on many food tours around the world. This tour definitely featured quality over quantity. The geisha coffee and rum alone were worth the price. Having it explained and traveling with our guide made for a wonderful evening. I love the shows Feed Phil, or Stanley Tucci that show you the foods of the country, the part you miss by just going where they go is the connection with the people. I do food tours for the history and information. So while I didn't love the beer at La rana Darado, I did love hearing about the 10% that goes the research to save the frog. Great experience!

This was an extraordinary tour. Jesus, our tour guide, is passionate about seafood and his country. He wants you to enjoy the incredible seafood of Panama. You also learn about the culture, history, and the people of Panama.
We started at the Tantalo with some incredible cerviche. It was some of the best cerviche that I have had. Jesus took us up to the beautiful rooftop bar so we could see a spectacular view of the city.
Next we walked over to Marea for a different cerviche. It was also incredible, too. Next we went to the Museo de la Mola. Jesus gave us a tour. We read about what a Mola was. A Mola is that beautiful hand stitched textile that the indigenous Guna women make. It is an art form.
Next we walked over to La Pulpería/Bar de Ramos Generales for a plate of fried fish.
We also bought a cocktail during happy hour. There is a list on the menu of the drink specials of the day. Our Long Island Iced Tea was 5 dollars. We wanted to have a rum drink since we were in Panama City.
While we were walking, Jesus told us about the country, the name Panama, and shared lots of information about the city. He recommended the rum, Pedro Mandingo, because our two faces of Panama tour never happened.
Jesus was very enthusiastic about his country and it’s food. There were only 5 of us including Jesus so I felt like we really received a very personal tour experience.
Jesus is a very outgoing and intelligent person. We were happy with his food selections and commentary about Casco Viejo and Panama itself.
This tour was relaxed and fun.

We had an amazing day with Sorhay and DJ Roger! It started with great Panamanian coffee and continued to a hike up through the jungle on Alcon Hill to see the views of Panama, monkeys, leaf-cutter ants, vultures and a Tucan eating! We visited all 3 Panama cities, learned about daily life, showed our kids (10 and 11) how kids live and play in Panama, visited Roberto Durant’s house, tried Geisha coffee, saw the soccer stadium for my son (avid soccer player), had a great lunch in the city and fantastic ice cream in the old town. Went shopping and learned so much about Panama, it’s culture and history. Sorhay is a gem! She tailor-made our trip to fit in everything our family was interested in and so much more! THANK YOU! Highly recommend this day trip!
And Sorhay - make sure you let me know how you like South Africa after you visit! 😊

This trip was just enough. The partial transit put us on the water with the rising water levels of the locks, a relatively short period of time moving from one to the other.
The boat was of a good size with good views of the happenings.
Our guide JC was knowledgeable and friendly as were the rest of the crew. We were served breakfast and lunch while aboard ship.
My one complaint is that finding the point of departure was challenging. I had given myself 30 minutes to be lost and just made it to the boat prior to launch.
This 5 hour activity is time well spent.

What a fantastic experience! Victor knows so much about the history of Panama especially that of the underprivileged and more rebellious side of the city.
Our tour with him was a day we’ll never forget. Visiting Mario, the Panama hat maker, playing dominoes with the locals and visiting a cantina gave us such an insight into local life.
We would recommend Victors tour to anyone who wants to avoid the usual tourist wagon train.
