The southernmost Anglican cathedral in the world, Christ Church was built in the 1890s from regional stone on the former site of Holy Trinity Church, which was ruined by the devastating peat landslide that destroyed part of Stanley in 1886. The locals are proud of this building—it decorates the reverse side of Falkland pound notes.
This is a small cathedral, but clearly much loved and an active place of worship in Stanley. The craftsmanship of the wood work and stained glass is spectacular.
The whalebone arch is in the grounds. On the shoreline and visited by most tours of Stanley. Easy to find. Free entry but donations are accepted.

Mind-blowing and awesome. Memories of 1982. Not many dry eyes! A quiet place for reflection. Glad to have had this experience.

It's a spectacular sight and worth the 1+ hour walk beyond the airfield, to get to it. If you're fortunate, offshore to the right on the way you'll see dolphins (I didn't), and killer whales in the sea beyond the lighthouse itself (I didn't see them either). A few yards beyond it is the Atlantic Conveyor memorial from the 1982 war.

Great place to visit and then sit on the nearby bench overlooking the rocks and sea, to make the most of the lunch you'll have earned getting there. Unless you drove of course, in which case you earned nothing... ;)

I hope they maintain it, and potentially renovate it so people can visit inside - no sign of that happening as yet.

Fabulous structure. It is built on land given by the Falkland's Island Company to commemorate the 100th year of British rule. Could do with more information boards though

One of the many places we stopped in while strolling Stanley. When we were there, there were only a handful of others in the church. Everyone was quiet and enjoying the space. Very nice!

A good memorial to those who lost their lives in world war one, not very far from the 1982 memorial which says something about human kind

What a great piece of history. Not often you can get so close to a ship wreck, at low tide you can apparently walk to it. It's ion a great setting too

During our visit to Stanley while most from our cruise went to see penguins, we walked through the memorial wood which was very moving, more so as we remembered well the events that took place and the lives lost. Very glad we went to see it.

As we travelled along Ross Road towards the Shorty’s Diner junction, the Stanley Cemetery appeared on our right. Although primarily public, there was a prominent commemoration to those who served in both World War I and II.

Military personnel, numbering 33 in total, rest within the grounds (all of which fought for the Falkland Islands Defence Force). As well as public and HMS Kent related burials, a monument stands at the entrance to remember those who sacrificed everything.

Very moving and fitting - a fairly well maintained and cared for area that will always overlook Stanley in all it’s glory.

This bust of Margaret Thatcher is situated on Thatcher Drive, alongside the 1982 Memorial in Stanley. It is on the coast, a short walk from the cruise terminal in Stanley. A place for a quick photograph but, maybe, a longer reflection.
The bronze bust was created by local sculptor and taxidermist, Steve Massam and unveiled on Thatcher Day, 10th January 2015, the bust commemorates the life of the UK Prime Minister who died in 2013.
Thatcher's role in the Falklands’ conflct is celebrated here, as the leader who was willing to make the decision to liberate the islands after an invasion directed by the military government in Argentina.
The brass plaque beneath bears her words from 3rd April 1982 “They are few in number, but they have the right to live in peace, to choose their own way of life and allegiance”.

I was slightly intrigued when I heard about this sculpture and spotted it instantly while travelling West on Ross Road. It sat down the slope from the Memorial with the Jhelum shipwreck in site.

Unfortunately, it was in need of sprucing up. Rusted, aged and missing a couple of Planets - a real shame to be honest.

The idea in it’s design is great and the identification of scale is interesting. I found it quite wacky given it’s positioning among various monuments and statues remembering past wars.

Overall, i’m glad I took the time to pay a visit but it needs someone to throw a bit of money it’s way to improve / upgrade the current condition.

A very nice gnome garden in a private back yard right next to the Rose Tavern. A welcome splash of color on a grey Stanley day. Beautiful flowers.

A post, I believe to have been erected in 1982, that is situated on the road to Surf Bay. It was originally created by military personnel during the conflict.

To date, the totem pole has been added to by almost forty years worth of locals and tourists. It displays a range of locations from all over the world.

It’s definitely worth a look and you may even wish to add your own hometown to the vast collection of signs!
