What travelers are saying
- Mark TDumaguete City, Philippines21 contributionsIncredible place to visit when visiting Bohol. What really struck me about this place was the man hours it must of took to build the terraces by hand without machinery. To this day the rice is planted and harvested by hand, absolutely incredible. The ride off the main highway is an adventure within itself. It’s actually a beautiful drive up into the foothills. WARNING! As soon as you turn off the road onto the one lane track to restaurant/terraces be extremely careful especially if you’re riding a scooter. One wrong move and you’ll swimming in a rice patty. If you’re unsure or not used to driving a scooter it might be better to just park and walk. The restaurant is basic, but the food is actually really good. It’s local cuisine and made fresh. If you feel adventurous and in decent shape you can walk down the stairs/path (from restaurant) to get a view of the lower terraces.Written March 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Daniel LCopenhagen, Denmark22 contributionsBatad and their rice terraces are a must see if in Banaue or around.
The city is truly something special, being built on the edge of the mountainside. The rice terraces are out of this world.
The mountains create a bowl/valley making the views even better.
Experiencing batad is good for a 1-2 night stay, but day trips work as well. If you are doing a day trip and you want to experience both rice terraces and the water fall - be prepared for a difficult and steep hike.Written March 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Located in the Batad rice terraces it’s a great hike down the mountains on narrow slippery pathways. I really enjoyed my time here and it’s definitely worth the climb for the swimWritten March 31, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MijnlieverdFHTagum City, Philippines4,206 contributionsThe place could be remote but a nice sensation when the people welcome you with sincerity. Maybe because they long to see some visitors to come and see their place.
A heartwarming hospitality and the place is beautiful. We had our guide so they were able to communicate for us.Written April 30, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jerzy GOlsztyn, Poland1,796 contributionsFrom behind the Banaue Hotel there is a path down to the village. With great expectations we started walking and we were highly disappointed - the path is so dirty, with all the plastic, packages papers that the good impression of the views was ruined. And of course mosquitos and flies...The village, historical ok, is a big trap for souvenirs and begging children. We had a look arround and quickly went back... Not our type of attraction although allows seeing things not available elsewhere as traditional houses but I do not think showing old people in their "natural" habitat is cruel...Written February 3, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Clive RRoyal Tunbridge Wells, UK1,829 contributionsStopped to view these terraces whilst driving to visit other rice terraces. Our guide took a slight detour to get a view of them, we had to hike a little but it was worth the effort. A bit off the beaten track but worth it all the same.Written February 28, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - mae44 contributionsQuite small but packed with a lot of Ifugao antiques. Very informative. The staff said that it is a private collection, thus photography is not allowed. Entrance fee is Php50. A few minutes walk from the Banaue tourism office. 30-40 minutes is enough time to allot here (if you will read all the antique/photography captions).Written April 12, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - EatME SDubai, United Arab Emirates185 contributionsI find it a simple place and not worth to hang out too. It is just a natural stream of cold water dripping from the craggy mountain. It is a good dip if you are into taking an ice bath.Written June 27, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jony JJ Travel and Tours Agency1 contributionThe views are amazing. Visiting the Batad Rice Terraces was a journey into the heart of natural wonder and cultural richness. As I stood at the viewpoint, I was immediately captivated by the breathtaking landscape that stretched before me – a masterpiece of ancient agricultural ingenuity.Written January 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
