Hiking Banaue rice terraces was a spectacular experience. The region is raw and authentic, amazing people and safe.

Special thanks to Jercy Cabbigat, the local tour guide who helped me plan my trip to Banaue and was there with me until I got on the bus leaving Banaue. Jercy provided me a customised itinerary bearing my interests and preference of difficulty level in hiking. He kept in constant touch me so that I reach Banue safely since I was traveling solo.

Jercy took care of me like his family and I felt at home the four days I spent in Banaue. We exchanged stories, I learnt a lot about the mountain people, and their lifestyle. Jercy even made me get on a Jeepney for a ride when I expressed my interest. His pricing was also nominal compared to the organised tours advertised online. Highly recommend Jercy anytime, he can be found on Facebook.

    Thanks once again, Jercy

A must do when you go to the Philippines. We did a one day trip with a walk down to the rice terraces and the village of Bataan. It is worth the effort to take the steps down. Not for somebody with bad mobility. But we loved it. Our local guide, Bridget, was born and raised in Bataad and showed us a local house and explained the traditional way of living and working the rice terraces. I would definitely recommend it.

This is one of my favorite waterfalls of all time! Located in the Batad rice terraces it’s a great hike down the mountains on narrow slippery pathways. I really enjoyed my time here and it’s definitely worth the climb for the swim

If you are staying at the Banuae Hotel, it is a bit of a hike down about 100 steps to the village. I went only as far as the first souvenir shop and that was enough for me. Once you walk down to the village, you have to go up the stone steps again as there are no roads for vehicles. Prices in the shop were good, much better than in the hotel.

The place could be remote but a nice sensation when the people welcome you with sincerity. Maybe because they long to see some visitors to come and see their place.

A heartwarming hospitality and the place is beautiful. We had our guide so they were able to communicate for us.

Quite small but packed with a lot of Ifugao antiques. Very informative. The staff said that it is a private collection, thus photography is not allowed. Entrance fee is Php50. A few minutes walk from the Banaue tourism office. 30-40 minutes is enough time to allot here (if you will read all the antique/photography captions).

I find it a simple place and not worth to hang out too. It is just a natural stream of cold water dripping from the craggy mountain. It is a good dip if you are into taking an ice bath.
