Incredibly awesome!! All the trekking through the mountains, forests, waterfalls, seeing all the rice terraces, talking to locals, with Jody, our local gide, explaining us every detail! I highly recommend, if you ever go to the Phillipines!! And ask for Jody, you won't be disappointed!! The Phillipines are not only Manila and the beach resorts! The rice terraces are really a must!!

We are very grateful to have had Vagabond Pinas as our tour guide on our Banaue- Batad trip. They offered comfortable and safe transportation, good accommodation with the best views, some history and stories on the rice terraces and its people, and an overall stress free trip.

We enjoyed the whole trip and are still awed with the beauty and culture of the rice terraces. It was more than we expected. Thank you Vagabond Pinas for making this experience extra personal, memorable and comfortable. It was truly an unforgettable and highly recommended adventure!💯🙌 We also very much appreciated their extra patience, care and guidance towards us as we are not a fit couple, and going through some of those rocky and narrow tracks was a bit of a challenge. 😄 It was definitely an amazing adventure! And the rooftop jeepney ride was a great experience and a must! 👍👍

My family and I had a truly unforgettable and unique adventure in Sagada, Banaue and Batad.

This is not our usual type of trip, so we’re grateful we booked through Vagabond Pinas and had Brayan as our guide the whole time. He helped and guided us all the way.. down to even the littlest things! He, along with our driver and all other local guides, were very accommodating and knowledgeable. It was amazing to see all the sights of Sagada and Ifugao.

I would recommend Vagabond Pinas and this itinerary to all my friends! I can’t wait to book another adventure with them.

An amazing trip to North Luzon with Yolo Travel!

We contacted Yolo to arrange a tour of North Luzon’s rice terraces and surrounding area. The remit was broad, only that it was for two people and should be 6/7 days. Paulo at Yolo was amazing. He very quickly proposed an itinerary which covered all the parts we wanted (including some we had never heard of), as well as advising on the best times to visit and what to bring.

Our tour covered Banaue and the surrounding areas (Batad, Hapao, Tapiya Falls) before moving on to Sagada (Sumaging and Lumiang Caves, surrounding waterfalls, Blue soil and Hanging Coffins).

Yolo arranged all the transport, guides and accommodation, making this a very stress-free trip. We did a private tour for two people, meaning that everything was done at our pace, which was especially appreciated after a few days walking the rice terraces! We had separate guides for Banaue (Abner and Mulin) and Sagada (Rex), all of whom were local and very knowledgeable on the area and local culture and customs, couldn’t recommend them enough.

We had amazing time and will definitely be using Yolo again for future trips, thank you!

The main challenges for visiting Sagada are transport and to some extent Accommodation. Although there are a number of guest houses and homestays it's by far best to book before arriving and bring proof of a place to stay. Tourists are expected to check in to the Visitor Center on arrival and pay a low visitor charge.

Although COVID is still an issue in the Cordillera your passport or ID and travel pass are all you need to show at the moment.

In general allow a day to travel to Baguio and another 5 to 6 hours to get to Sagada. It is possible to travel direct but it is a 12 to 14 hour bus trip overnight. If you plan to drive be aware that the Halsema Highway is a relatively narrow mountain road which challenges both vehicle and driver. Although the distance from Baguio is about 120 Km allow at least 5 hours for the trip and be aware that fog and rain can add more time. At present the highway is restricted near Mt Data where a major slide is being repaired.

Sagada is an agricultural town with many small villages. It has extensive terraces, perhaps not quite as scenic as Banaue but also offering great walks and of course the extensive caves. The people are friendly and welcoming and have a unique mountain culture. Unlike much of the Philippines the Spanish connection is very limited there with many people speaking their own languages as well as Tagalog and in many cases English. The food is also different to much of the lowland with a wider variety of vegetables and even Fruit more suitable to the mountain climate. There are a wide range of restaurants and small eateries but none of the tourist chains.

Be aware that it can be comparatively cold especially at night. During the wet season it is quiet wet with afternoon thunder storms very common. Also the town has no central water supply relying on local arrangement to tap springs and bores.
This may mean that your accommodation has limited water and more basic facilities than you might expect.

The other consideration is that travelling about is largely by walking and some of the paths can be quite steep. There are a few jeepneys and small transport vehicles but the common tricycles seen in most places are not allowed.

If you are looking for a relaxing and physical break then it should suit most people but if your looking for a wild social experience then it may not suit you.

Came on a Wednesday but as it's quiz night & pub absolutely hammered always pre-book table in restaurant.
Service was really good even though 2 new staff were being trained - Imran & Emma?
Tbh as Molly & Caitlin were their mentors /role models they really won't go wrong.
As a customer it's s good to see, what is apparently acompany investing in it's future.

My wife and I booked a private 2 day Bataan tour with JB Quemado. Since we had never been to the Philippines, only had a short time and knew relatively little about the WWII in the Pacific we felt duty bound (we are both US Army veterans) to book the best tour we could find. The Bataan Death March route is hallowed ground to us. We took a risk and booked JB’s private tour despite relatively limited reviews available. We hoped that the higher price would enable him to deliver a higher quality tour. Wow! He earned every penny. We were delighted.

JB is a very experienced licensed tour guide with a degree in tourism from The University of Santo Thomas. He has nearly 30 years of experience guiding tourists, Death March Veterans and their families, very high ranking US Military Officers, US Embassy staff and VIPs. His knowledge of WWII, Manila and military topics in general is exhaustive. He can go deep into details an expert would appreciate but unlike history professors we have toured with in the past, he can humbly present basic information that a layman can easily understand. His descriptions are engaging and informative. This is difficult information to hear but JB elegantly balances the brutal facts with respectful lightness.

One priceless bonus is JB’s second hand knowledge he learned from his grandfather growing up. His grandfather fought in the US Armed Forces of the Far East in WWII. He was captured by the Japanese when Bataan fell, walked the Death March to Camp O’Donnel, escaped from Camp O’Donnel and joined the resistance. He continued fighting with the guerrilla forces until the Japanese were defeated. JB has read a lot of history about WWII but growing up near Bataan with his grandfather and hearing his experiences in the war has given JB a level of insight a lifetime of research could not replicate.

JB is also very well connected and resourceful. His tour includes a Corregidor tour conducted by a guide with 25 years of experience. On our tour we had the entire island to ourselves. There were no other tourists that day but JB made sure we had a private boat and tour bus. If other tourists are on the island you might end up comfortably sharing the bus with other guests (no more than 10) but the tour will still go even if it’s only one person.

Another bonus is JB is a great Manila tour guide. He can’t help himself when driving through town pointing out sights and explaining the history of Manila.

    What to expect:

    - JB personally guiding you along the route.
    - A private car and driver (small new well air conditioned Toyota WiGo. Perfect for the two of us plus JB and his driver). He will get a larger vehicle for more guests.
    - A nice hotel on Bataan for one night.
    - A private boat ride to and from Corregidor.
    - A tour bus and specialist guide for Corregidor.
    - Stops at several different museums.
    - Stops at important locations along the Death March route.
    - A stop at Mt. Samat with an optional walk to the cross at the top.
    - A tour of Camp O’Donnell.

    Considerations.

The boat trip to Corregidor requires getting on and off at the bow. The crew provides a ramp or steps but it could be a big challenge for someone who has difficulty walking.

Weather conditions can affect the Corregidor schedule. Crossing the channel in a small bangka boat in high swells would be a difficult passage. JB actually changed our Corregidor tour day because he correctly anticipated larger waves from a storm several hundred miles away.

Limited luggage space in the Toyota WiGo. This is the compromise for a roomier back seat and easy parking. It easily accommodated our day pack and carry on suitcase but we don’t recommend a full sized suitcase or a lot of luggage. We left our other bags at our hotel in Manila for our overnight stay in Bataan.

In conclusion this tour was very much worth the price for us. This is a story that needs to be told and told well.

This was very amazing and one of a kind, seeing the different parts of the Philippines was very astounding. Culture was very nourished and coated by some preserve ethnical things from the past.

Our first stop is the trekking to the volcano and ride a 4x4 truck, it was very extreme and awesome experience having a thrilling ride to the area where the aftermath of the eruption. We see some indigenous people there and witness their different structures and characteristics figures.

The first stop was very beautiful and manageable because of of our travel coordinator Seana that has a good presence of attitude and lovely smile every time she is talking and even we ask her some questions. She manage everything until we reach our next stop the rice field of terraces the Bananue Rice Terraces.

Travel time almost 9 hours and our driver Rhed was very smooth and professional on his driving skills, he let our selves relax and comfortable on his driving talent, thanks for making us safe until we reach our last destination in Baguio to Manila.

We got a lot of fun and extreme experience on this trip that we never experience before, for us our highlight to this is the Hotspring and The Cave we thought that we can make it but WE DID IT !!!!! Thanks to our local guides for bringing some local experiences Abner in Banaue and Rex to the Sagada heading to the Hanging Coffins.

To end this if you want a good and safe people to take care of you on the trip, we recommend Seana and Rhed for you, so that if would be easy and smooth for you to manage the trip.

This trip is a ALL IN ONE cultural trip with some UNESCO Heritage spots sightseeing.

We had a great time, and our guide Dennis was so knowledgeable and friendly. The group was great and our time was well spent. Dennis knew the right spots to take us for our best exposure to the food and countryside. I would highly recommend this tour.
