Intramuros: History of Old Manila | Manila Walking Tours was so much fun, with 8 other family members and learned a lot about the area from our guide that we did not know from prior trip walking around ourselves. We had one member on crutches and they were very accommodating and patient. So much rich history was learned.

Jb our tour guide was totally outstanding. He knew everything about the death march since his grandfather was in the death march and survived. It was an 11 hour tour every hour was totally worth it. We saw absolutely everything you could see about the death. March. JB was fabulous and our driver was just excellent driving us through the terrible Manila traffic.

A great driver got us to the locations, and our tour guides made the tours memorable. They provided the back story for what we were seeing. I know I need to plan for multiple days to explore Bataan. Angie has so much passion for her country's history. You can feel it as she shares her knowledge about history, Mt. Samat and Bataan. I could converse with her all day. Well worth your time. Don't miss it.

We were on a SE Asia cruise and booked this tour instead of one offered by the ship. It was one of our most enjoyable experiences of the trip. Jo, our guide , picked us up on time and right where we expected. She worked with us to customize the tour and even made some last minuet changes to minimize wait times at some sites due to traffic from the ship. We never felt rushed and got to see many interesting and diverse things in the city, within our limited available time. Leila Eldian, the local tour manager, kept in touch with us before the trip as well as on the day of the tour, and helped us work through some last minute changes due the a change in the ship's schedule. I would highly recommend this trip and be sure to ask for Jo to be your guide.

You can experience the means of transportation (horse-driven cart) by riding and trudging on the roads that are made out of bricks. Yo can as well feel the happiness and tragic emotions of the lives of the people who inhabited this well preserved centuries old structures. The place where a heroine (Gabriela Silang) was publicly executed is now a dancing water fountain. The jail where the late President of the Republic of the Philippines his Excellency Elpedio Quirino was born is a nice place to visit, including the well preserved house of Father Burgos.

My wife and I booked a private 2 day Bataan tour with JB Quemado. Since we had never been to the Philippines, only had a short time and knew relatively little about the WWII in the Pacific we felt duty bound (we are both US Army veterans) to book the best tour we could find. The Bataan Death March route is hallowed ground to us. We took a risk and booked JB’s private tour despite relatively limited reviews available. We hoped that the higher price would enable him to deliver a higher quality tour. Wow! He earned every penny. We were delighted.

JB is a very experienced licensed tour guide with a degree in tourism from The University of Santo Thomas. He has nearly 30 years of experience guiding tourists, Death March Veterans and their families, very high ranking US Military Officers, US Embassy staff and VIPs. His knowledge of WWII, Manila and military topics in general is exhaustive. He can go deep into details an expert would appreciate but unlike history professors we have toured with in the past, he can humbly present basic information that a layman can easily understand. His descriptions are engaging and informative. This is difficult information to hear but JB elegantly balances the brutal facts with respectful lightness.

One priceless bonus is JB’s second hand knowledge he learned from his grandfather growing up. His grandfather fought in the US Armed Forces of the Far East in WWII. He was captured by the Japanese when Bataan fell, walked the Death March to Camp O’Donnel, escaped from Camp O’Donnel and joined the resistance. He continued fighting with the guerrilla forces until the Japanese were defeated. JB has read a lot of history about WWII but growing up near Bataan with his grandfather and hearing his experiences in the war has given JB a level of insight a lifetime of research could not replicate.

JB is also very well connected and resourceful. His tour includes a Corregidor tour conducted by a guide with 25 years of experience. On our tour we had the entire island to ourselves. There were no other tourists that day but JB made sure we had a private boat and tour bus. If other tourists are on the island you might end up comfortably sharing the bus with other guests (no more than 10) but the tour will still go even if it’s only one person.

Another bonus is JB is a great Manila tour guide. He can’t help himself when driving through town pointing out sights and explaining the history of Manila.

    What to expect:

    - JB personally guiding you along the route.
    - A private car and driver (small new well air conditioned Toyota WiGo. Perfect for the two of us plus JB and his driver). He will get a larger vehicle for more guests.
    - A nice hotel on Bataan for one night.
    - A private boat ride to and from Corregidor.
    - A tour bus and specialist guide for Corregidor.
    - Stops at several different museums.
    - Stops at important locations along the Death March route.
    - A stop at Mt. Samat with an optional walk to the cross at the top.
    - A tour of Camp O’Donnell.

    Considerations.

The boat trip to Corregidor requires getting on and off at the bow. The crew provides a ramp or steps but it could be a big challenge for someone who has difficulty walking.

Weather conditions can affect the Corregidor schedule. Crossing the channel in a small bangka boat in high swells would be a difficult passage. JB actually changed our Corregidor tour day because he correctly anticipated larger waves from a storm several hundred miles away.

Limited luggage space in the Toyota WiGo. This is the compromise for a roomier back seat and easy parking. It easily accommodated our day pack and carry on suitcase but we don’t recommend a full sized suitcase or a lot of luggage. We left our other bags at our hotel in Manila for our overnight stay in Bataan.

In conclusion this tour was very much worth the price for us. This is a story that needs to be told and told well.

Luneta is a place for everyone. A very nice place to spend time with the family members with or without occasions. You can walk around, play games with your family, you can bring food as well sit and relax. Luneta is the national park of the country and you can see the statue of the National Hero of the country, you can see there a wide map of the country. This park is an open park, I would suggest wearing comfortable shoes is good because it's a huge park to walk around.

What a great day - a wonderful trip - the boat trip around the island and seeing the volcano was incredible. Allan was just lovely, very kind and caring and we had some great conversations on the trip - would most certainly recommend this to anyone !!

We booked /paid for a half day museum tour for two. (Note: unlike most other TripAdvisor partners this company had a no cancellation/no refund policy.) Good communication and clear meet up instructions. Timely notified of a museum closure with great suggested alternate. Morning of the tour husband unwell and I didn't want to spend that much time away. Met up with the guide, Jen, on time at the exact spot, to let her know she was free to go. We knew no refund. She expressed concern, asked if we needed medical help, and asked if I had any other plans. Just wander outside the port entrance a little and try to find a 7-11... As we walked and talked she did things like subtly switched sides to shield me from aggressive vendors, pointed out sidewalk hazards, and I realized what I most wanted was to just have a nice chat with her over a beverage in a place with AC. She was up for it, and kept notifying the driver of changing plans. I'm going to skip the rest of the details and summarize by saying Jen is one of the best private guides I've had in 40 years of traveling. She was so knowledgeable and shared information in a natural way--never sounding like she'd memorized info. Jen patiently answered a wide array of questions and we had a great conversation ranging from history to culture to current events, and beyond. She was constantly thoughtful of my comfort without being fussy. (She also kept her driver in the loop.) Though I only ended up using about half the scheduled tour time, I wrapped up the day with her because I was at that "Goldilocks moment" of feeling that everything which transpired was " just right." I could have easily found my way back to the ship but she walked me as far as she was permitted. The depth and breadth of her knowledge was impressive. I would happily seek Jen out in the future and feel confident recommending her and this tour provider without hesitation.
