Went with my daughter to the Khan-El-Khalili which is the historic bazaar in the centre of old Cairo. It fascinating, huge and a must experience. To be honest some people made us feel a little uncomfortable, but all was good. The salespeople can be a little pushy and most of the items are cheap and I believe are imported from China. So be aware.

Take your time and enjoy the superb craftsmanship. It's worth every penny of the price - and the vendors do NOT inflate their prices. This is an art form which may die out after these artisans retire.

This was one of the highlights during my visit to Cairo. When I read about it, I knew I had to go. It all seemed so chaotic. The camels are mainly sold for their meat so keep this in mind if you are a vegetarian. Had a driver with a guide to get there. The drive through the countryside to get there was also worth it. Ladies..take a scarf to wear, dust being kicked up everywhere.

Arts and crafts without the hassles of a busy souk and a lovely restaurant for a well priced relaxing lunch. Calm and has plenty of quality goods in proper shops.

Thoroughly enjoyed the local market. A bit noisy though. Can get nice jewelery, abayas, Kurtas, clothing, shoes, bags etc

small but worth the hike - if you are surrounded by bullet bras and pre-packaged blankets you are not there yet. Keep moving - also there's a great local market stretch that's fun to walk through and buy some Egyptian pretzels and enjoy
