What travelers are saying
- Amir N2 contributionsMy partner an I went on the Arab Al-Rashaida sunrise hike and it was the most magical thing. We were picked up in Bethlehem by Nidal from Siraj Center and driven an hour south to the Rashaida campground. We were graciously hosted and offered coffee and light snacks by Ismail. Afterwards we hiked in the desert through the night during a new moon so we got incredible views of the sky, taking rests as necessary, with many opportunities to do some star gazing. It was a cool August night so we felt very comfortable with the temperature with only light jackets. Right before dawn, we arrived at a breathtaking lookout over the Dead Sea and spent about an hour there just taking in the views and watching flocks of white storks migrating south over the Jordan valley.
Then we were driven back to our starting point and served a simple but plentiful breakfast and coffee served by Ismail and his partner after which Nidal drove us all the way back to Bethlehem to our hotel.
Also, shout out to Mayada who works out of Siraj Center's office for being super patient and accommodating to us while working on a plan and answering our plethora of questions.
This was an amazing way of exploring Palestine and supporting local tourism there.Written 10 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We didn’t officially do a walking tour but we wanted to use the Siraj Center because it is an NGO and not a normal tour company. Our guide was Amer. He clearly and unbiasedly spoke about the conflict, its impact on Palestinian life while also weaving the vast religious history of Palestine into our tour. We did a day tour which I would recommend if you can’t do a longer walking tour. Thanks so much, Amer and Siraj Center for an excellent, educational and moving day in Palestine.Written 1 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Natalia5 contributionsAhmad is an incredible host! The room, located in Dheisha refugee camp, is clean and spacious. I spent there a night with my boyfriend and we felt like home. Ahmad and his family are really welcoming. And the food that her mum cooked was delicious! I’m sure that we are going to meet again because we feel really close to Ahmad and now we can call him a true friend. I really recommend his place to anyone interested in Palestinian culture, gastronomy and the situation in the refugee camps. Thanks a lot Ahmad from Joan and Natalia. We are looking forward to see you again!Written 10 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
