- DaniGill113 contributionsGreat selection of quality bikes and the owner and staff are amazing; super friendly and reliable and will go out of their way to help. I will always chose 99 moto rental to rent a bike from here in Cambodia.Written March 12, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - rgillamChalfont St. Giles, UK5 contributionsI hired an xr250 for 5 days to travel around the south coast, a round trip of 600km.
The lady at Angkor motorcycles is very nice and efficient, you have to leave your passport which is a little disconcerting, however it was returned without any problem. They also looked after our luggage. There is no insurance requirements, I could not even get 3rd party without an international driving licence. The bike was not maintained to a high standard, I had to get the front brake pads changed before I would take the bike. The speedo and rev counter did not work , looking at the other bikes available this was the norm. That said, we had no problems with the bike it took the two of us and a heavy rucksack without any problems.
Now to the journey ...
I would not advise anyone to attempt this ride unless you are very experienced on bikes and have nerves of steel. The on-coming traffic will overtake at 100km/h on your side pushing you off the road onto the dirt track at the side. Take road 41 not highway 3 if you're travelling down to Kampot, it's a much better road and less crazy overtaking. We came back on national highway 4 which is dusty and by far the most dangerous road I've ever driven on, we had at least half a dozen near misses.
Overall the bike was very good value, the journey was an experience (would never do it again)
But the coast of Cambodia is stunning!

Do not rent from them.Written October 8, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
