My husband and I just had the best guide and driver ever, and since we do a lot of traveling, we have booked lots of tour companies. Eric was our Go Kigali Tours guide and he was the most helpful, sociable and kind person. The airline lost my luggage the day before which meant I didn’t have appropriate footwear to hike to see the mountain gorillas, nor the recommended rain coat or even suntan lotion or mosquito spray. The airline had no idea if my luggage would be found so I asked Eric if during the city tour he could take us to some stores. He was so accommodating and also took care of getting us a SIM card. We can’t thank him enough.
The tour itself was great. The driver, who goes by the name No. 8 (because he is the eighth child in his family), negotiated the busy, narrow streets with care and waited patiently for us as we shopped.
We had booked a private tour so it could be customized. Highlights included the Mount Kigali viewpoint, the Question coffee shop (which buys its coffee beans from female farmers), and all the fabulous restaurant and food stops. We enjoyed a snack of the best samosas we have ever had and a lunch consisting of authentic Kigali food including a delicious green banana dish.
It was a great first day in Kigali after a terrible night of waiting at the baggage carousel for over an hour only to discover my luggage wasn’t on board the plane!
