Whether spending your entire trip on Lāna’i or visiting for the day, be sure to head into town and make a stop at the Mike Carroll Gallery. The gallery, owned and operated by Mike and his wife Kat, is beautifully appointed and serves as a studio for Mike. Inside you’ll find a host of beautiful original paintings, fine art prints and lovely objets d’art created by Mike or other local artists. It’s the perfect place to find a one of a kind souvenir for yourself or someone else and support a local business. I visited with my mom while staying at the FS resort on the bay a week ago. It was a quick trip on the shuttle, and I’m so happy I made the journey! We found several pieces and the gallery coordinated shipping so we didn’t have to worry about making room in our luggage. Everything arrived in just a few days in perfect condition. I’ll definitely be returning the next time I’m on Lāna’i. Thank you Mike and Kat!

Absolutely loved the Cat Sanctuary! Staff was friendly and helpful. The cats were meowing to us and waiting for us as we entered the sanctuary. Many were very friendly and loving. Cats of all sizes, colorations, and ages. There was a special TLC area for kitties with internal issues, 2 different senior areas, and an area for 1-3 year olds. A very relaxing experience with many shaded areas to sit and spend time with the kittles. We were there for 2 hours. I could have easily stayed longer.

A superb facility! A quick visit could take in the very succinct and informative timeline, a longer visit could make the most of the many fascinating artefacts and the supremely well informed volunteer staff. A fascinating view of a very interesting history. Very well worth a visit!

The drive down is a bit bumpy and you will need a 4x4 / Jeep-type vehicle, but the beach is expansive. The best part - alone. The beach spans for multiple miles and there was no one there for the first 2 hours or so.

The current and waves were strong, but the views were impressive. Best part was seeing a monk seal on the beach. Stayed well over a 100 feet to respect the boundary and was able to take good photos with the camera and a 500mm lens.

It is worth the trip - suggestion also is to bring plenty of water and food to stay the whole day.

Nice view and good short hike for the morning before it gets hot. Saw some birds that burrow in all those holes in the ground. Only saw around 4 people that morning on the hike.

The drive to/towards the beach is scenic. From Lanai city down the winding road towards the beach has views of Maui, Molokai and ultimately the beaches. Once parking at the end of the road, it is roughly a 5-10 minute walk depending on the path.

Note - having a 4x4 jeep or similar is ideal.

This hike is supposed to be 12.3 miles and by the time we were done it was 19 miles!
The trail is by the cemetery behind Koele Lodge. The signs point to Koloiki Ridge Trail so we knew that was a branch off trail from the Munro. However, there were many different trails without signs! We had to hike the Koloiki Ridge since we were here so we did that and we were not disappointed. We now had to find the Munro Trail and we finally found it at 1:30. We saw a sign as we walked about 800 meters so we knew we were finally on it. It’s just a 4x4 road and now that I did the whole thing I would tell people it was very boring! There was a lot of cloud cover so we didn’t see much and the last 4 miles were very long and boring. I would suggest the Koloiki Ridge Trail. The Munro Trail is off limits to vehicles so that is the one nice thing about the trail. I wouldn’t want to hike and share the road with off road vehicles.

The experience is truly unique and has different views from different vantage points even when moving a couple hundred feet down the "road" (term used loosely). The grounds are best navigated with a 4x4 / Jeep-type vehicle. It is worthwhile and offers views that are truly captivating.

We wandered into this place while walking around Lanai City. It is a gallery with many different local artists. The gentleman manning the place talked to us about the recent fire and the impact on Maui as well as on the lack of people taking the shuttle over to Lanai from Maui. It was definitely worth stopping in, even though we didn't find anything. Check the place out and support local artists.

As others have mentioned, the trail is not that difficult to hike.

It’s peaceful and there’s a lot of different terrain throughout the hike, but for me the greatest part was the end which gives you a beautiful panoramic view of Molokai and Maui as well as the waves breaking on Lanai.

The only reason I didn’t give this trail 5-Stars is because I wish it ended closer to, or preferably at, the ocean. That would have been incredible.

With that said, it is worthwhile and a good chance to relax at the end of the trail while taking in the sights and sounds of nature.
