We were very fortunate that GEM tours arranged for Omar (Elmer) Alvarado to be our guide for 2 1/2 days, including the full sunrise and sunset tours of Tikal, Ixpanajul Nature Park, and the smaller Ruins Site Yaxha.
Tikal National Park is one of the few World Heritage properties inscribed according to both natural and cultural criteria for its extraordinary biodiversity and archaeological importance.

However, being in the jungle, seeing the monkeys and their babies, seeing the park and pools in the beautiful river, hearing the birds and bugs singing and hiking the hillside to the view are with it all.

The gardens at Hotel Atitlan are a must-see after visiting the nearby Nature Reserve, with stunning flower gardens and peacocks, toucans, and macaws wandering around.
Manicured and formal in nature, I wandered the trails lost in the ever changing flowering plants.

Pacaya Volcano Antigua
We were welcomed onto our comfortable van with a bottle of water and a map, and Alfredo provided interesting commentary and helpful tips throughout the 1½ hour drive to Pacaya Volcano National Park.
Our tour included a tasty bag lunch and a second tour guide (a local) as required by the volcano parks service which helps support the local community living on the volcano.

Santa Maria Volcano Quetzaltenango
The views are gorgeous, the nature is beautiful, the air so clean and fresh -- it was definitely one of the coolest things I've done.
it is not a walk in the park, especially when you plan on camping on the volcano and have to carry sleeping bags and supplies of water etc. all the way up.

this easy stroll through the park end at a swimming hole in a creek, with a hot springs waterwater fall cascading into the creek pool.

Cerro Tzankujil Nature Reserve San Marcos La Laguna
A very well kept and beautifully preserved park, with breathtaking views of the lake and the coolest "trampoline" to launch yourself into the blue waters of Atitlan!
The Cerro Tzankujil Nature Reserve is a beautiful and peaceful nature reserve located just a short five minute or so walk outside of San Marcos along the lakefront.
Rio Dulce Livingston
Our group spend about an hour or more walking around the grounds, in and out of classroom, observing meal preparation, and enjoying nature.
I found this place a gem of nature.
We left from Lanquin and got to the park right when it opened, there was one other group that was all ready out there.
... the place is beautiful be sure to walk all the way to the end and go to the last hot spring as it is the one with the warmest water if you are looking to experience nature and a good road trip this is a must.
There's a smaller, less developed pool right at the entrance and this one was my favourite - you feel close to nature and it wasn't very busy (for a while we were the only two there).

A magic place to discover an ancient culture, you will enjoy the nature sounds and see a lot of animals and flowers.
Financial resources are scarce for protecting the Reserve by park rangers, and the area is often considered a lawless wilderness, so take heed when planning remote hikes and camping trips.
