We are so happy we went with Jungle Limo Tours for our day trip to the Xunantunich ruins! First, the people - our guide, Tony, was extremely knowledgeable, having been a certified tour guide for 20 years! The pride he has in his country and it’s history shows, and so does his love for the job! Our driver, Jason, was awesome too and handles the stretch limo like a pro. Michael, the owner, is incredibly responsive and knows all the ins and outs of Belize and even helped us with answers and recs outside of the tour. They take care of all the details that foreign travelers look for and it was such a seamless and smooth experience from booking to end.
For the activities - the limo was stocked with plenty of drinks and breakfast was traditional Belizian meat patties and journey cake breakfast sandwiches. Be sure to let them know if you’re a vegetarian and like one reviewer said, it is a bit light but us Americans are used to hearty breakfasts. The Xunantunich ruins were amazing (a walk/hike around and a steep climb up to the top). Next stop was lunch at a popular local stop for traditional Belizian stewed chicken w/rice & beans and plantains. They do have other food if you have picky eaters like our kids, but I highly recommend the traditional food! It was the best we had during our entire trip. Last stop was the zip line and cave tubing (in the same location). There were about 4 lines and they went through the jungle and over the river. Finally, the best part, cave tubing! Tony was our personal guide and it was UNBELIEZABLE (as Tony would say!). After about a mile walk, through parts of the river, we reached the cave entrance. So serene and beautiful and other-worldly. An unforgettable experience! You def need water shoes but if you don’t want to pack them, you can rent crocs for about $3USD and we didn’t use water shoes during any other part of our trip in Belize. A guy named Rhino has pineapples ($10USD w/virgin or alcoholic punch!) that were the perfect ending!
The tour is worth every penny for comfort, the personal touch and cultural insight.
