This is a great tour. You start in the basement level and there are lots of reading materials and objects to look at that explain what happened up to the assassination of President Lincoln. Then you go into the theater itself (it's still a working theater). I would sit in the upper level on the opposite side of Presidential booth so you can have a good view of it for photos. A national park guide will then come on stage and tell you the whole story of what happened that day as well. He was a great storyteller too.

This was a lot more fun than I thought it would be. Getting to see all the famous portraits of people all throughout history. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would.

The only disappointment was not enough cool gaggets for the kids. Overall great experience. Friendly staff and will truly test your memory. Pay attention to everything!

The Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM) and the National Portrait Gallery (NPG) are both housed in the old Patent Office building. In SAAM, there were many interesting exhibits, both permanent and temporary. The exhibits give a broad picture of American art from the colonial period until the 21st century.

At the White House Visitors Center, our US History Tour group was shown a film about life at the White House, featuring quotes, videos, and pictures from people who had lived there. There were artifacts and displays about the presidents and families, a scale model of the building, and other interesting information. I enjoyed a cute interactive quiz with a table, showing favorite foods of a number of presidents, and you guess which president it was—two of the foods were squirrel soup, and jelly beans. There was a small gift shop where I chose my favorite from a number of official White House Christmas ornaments. This Visitors Center was a great intro before going to see the White House and grounds.

Recently renovated and reopened this place should certainly be a on your list to see. Lots of women’s art from numerous eras provide a comprehensive view of what female artists have contributed. Of particular interest is the second floor devoted to contemporary sculpture.

Good spot for an event (we did Bruins Caps hockey). It blends very well into neaighborhood for a 20K arena. Good sightlines and even in upper level felt close to action. Prices typical of any arena. Would go to another game/event here if in area.

This park is a fantastic tribute. Set in a peaceful park, well set out. Sad to see how many names have had to have been added. A must visit

Unexpected find! Who knew there was a national building museum? Lots here in the introductory exhibit about building and city planning and the social and economic issues involved. Some parts of the museum are free, including a historic tour -- so much great history here! The building was originally the center for soldiers' pensions after the Civil War. More recently it has been used for many presidential inaugural balls! It's a private museum so they charge admission for some exhibits. We saw an amazing children's book exhibition and some very impressive lego art.

The views were breath taking, it was that week that the flowers were blooming, and the young leaves beginning to wake up following the end of winter.

Beautiful memorial dedicated to the United States Navy. There are multiple flags being flown, some names, dates, statues. Located behind the National Archives

Historic venue, all seats seem good for views of the stage. However, very tight seating especially for tall people. Ticketing is a pain - requires a smart phone and app; will not accept screen captures of tickets.

Convenient food court. Has a few choices. Typical foods as found in food courts. Can sit down and eat inside. You go through typical security check. Wasn’t crowded the day we visited.

This is a stately cathedral with beautiful mosaics and marble. It's a bit overshadowed by the surrounding buildings, but it's still a grand church, and well worth a stop.
