    This is one of my favorite Smithsonian museums to go to in DC. The national archives is not often that crowded, and you can see the constitution, the declaration, and the Bill of Rights in the main rotunda. The other exhibits aren’t as good, but a half an hour at the national archives is always enough to be inspired by our founding documents.

    At the White House Visitors Center, our US History Tour group was shown a film about life at the White House, featuring quotes, videos, and pictures from people who had lived there. There were artifacts and displays about the presidents and families, a scale model of the building, and other interesting information. I enjoyed a cute interactive quiz with a table, showing favorite foods of a number of presidents, and you guess which president it was—two of the foods were squirrel soup, and jelly beans. There was a small gift shop where I chose my favorite from a number of official White House Christmas ornaments. This Visitors Center was a great intro before going to see the White House and grounds.

    The views from the top of the Old Post Office Pavilion were fantastic! It was easy to get to and easy to get up. It's a great way to see the DC Metro Area in all its glory. If you happen to be in the area, it is a quick visit and I'd recommend it doing if you have a free 30 minutes to spare.

    Convenient food court. Has a few choices. Typical foods as found in food courts. Can sit down and eat inside. You go through typical security check. Wasn’t crowded the day we visited.

    My two nieces under the age of three had a great time at this family stop. We went to the national children’s museum as children and there seemed to be more educational content for children of all ages then. My parents were school teachers and noticed this difference. The gift shop also had very limited selection. If you’re looking for a place for kids to just have fun and not necessarily as much of a learning experience this is a great spot. There are some learning opportunities but less than there used to be. We would likely return on another trip to DC.

    My husband and I throughly enjoyed our six hour tour that was lead by Tyrone and our driver was Chris. Tyrone was very knowledgeable about each site and we loved his personality and humor. Chris was a great driver and he made the check in process smooth. We saw and learned so much!!
    The boat ride was nothing special but it was a perfect way to end the day❤️
    Highly recommended this tour

    The Ellipse and White House area were closed off. Security said it would be open later tonight. We walked sound; saw people promoting their causes; helicopters in the sky, beautiful sunset and Washington Monument. Lots of interesting historical buildings and information. It was a nice evening, we will be back when the park opens tomorrow.

    PROS
    * Nice prominent statue
    * Great architecture high on a pedestal
    * Historical value
    * Central location on busy Pennsylvania Avenue, neat the Old Post Office Tower, the National Archives and Fords Theater

    CONS
    * Hidden in a park
    * Easy to miss if not looking for “stuff”

    “I VISITED THIS PLACE”…
    … because I walked the round trip of the presidential inauguration route from the White House to our Capitol…. And I specifically was looking for “stuff.”

    ADVICES
    If you are in the area and at this location, then you should approach and see and admire the statue. In such a great city with so much stuff, one does not need to go out of the way to specifically see this.

    Please enjoy my artistically framed “helpful” photos.

    Walking past the Ronald Reagan building we noticed a plaque on the wall for the Woodrow Wilson Memorial. As lover of the presidential library’s we thought we’d stop by.

    We had to go through an extensive security check, greater than most of the other museums we have been in because it is a working federal building.

    The exhibit has many of the famous quotes from our only PhD earning president and there is a room with some artifacts and a timeline of his life. It does not take long to visit, but if you love presidential history this is one that’s worth the time.

    PROS
    * Historical statue representing and honoring Union soldiers
    * Great architecture of the soldiers
    * Prominent meaningful inscription and explanation
    * It is also in a central location on busy Pennsylvania Avenue, near the Old Post Office Tower, the National Archives and Fords Theater

    CONS
    * Easy to miss if not looking for “stuff”
    * On a busy street

    “I VISITED THIS PLACE”…
    … because when I walked the round trip of the presidential inauguration route from the White House to our Capitol, I was specifically looking for “stuff,” and this is one of the things that I was so happy to find. I loved it.

    ADVICES
    You can honor our fallen and passed Union heroes if you are in the area and at this location. You should approach and see and admire the statue. Nonetheless, in such a great city with so much stuff, one does not need to go out of the way to specifically see this.

    Please enjoy my artistically framed “helpful” photos of this great statue/monument

    I don’t know much about the building or its purpose. In fact we weren’t even allowed inside the building; perhaps because it was near Christmas time? I usually like to just walk around and stumble onto pretty cool things and most times I do. However, this wasn’t one of those times. The building still looked pretty presidential and classical and it’s worth a look. Maybe since it is after the New Year, it has since reopened?

    I can’t think of a better tour experience than the one we had with Don! He is such an enjoyable person to be with and full of knowledge about history and the city. The tour with him was truly the highlight of our trip. We would’ve never been able to see as much or get as close to so many monuments without him, but what he offers is far beyond better access to the sites. He is an incredible teacher and communicator and brings the history of this nation to life while bringing you up close to these important sites.

    My two children asked him many questions and he engaged them with kindness and respect and answered them so thoughtfully, which impressed me. He taught us a great deal and left my children with a real sense of their civic responsibility as citizens of our country. They didn’t want the tour to end!

    Scheduling was a breeze, communication was seamless, the entire experience was phenomenal. They have absolutely perfected the DC pedicab tour!

    Was entirely fenced and blocked off when I passed by. Perhaps not used anymore as visitors are processed through the White House Visitors Center across the street.
