- Andrew MHouston, TX20 contributionsClean beach, clean looking water. Probably a very popular (if crowded) beach during the summer months. When we went, nobody was brave (foolish?) enough to brave the waters.Written October 12, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jeff LProvidence, RI253 contributionsWe had a great day at the beach. The beach was clean and the water was clear. The beach itself is quite large for a lake beach. They have ropes around the area you can swim in and there is plenty of room for kids to play and not be on top of one another. The bottom is sand and easy to walk around on. I did not step on any rocks once I got into the water. There are some small rocks as you get into the water.
There are several life guard chairs, but no life guards on duty. We found street parking no issue, but we also went mid afternoon to avoid some of the sun.
The whole area is nice to walk along the boardwalk and watch all the boats coming and going. Our family had a terrific time.Written September 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. When I had a serious pronlem, I had lifeguard assistance in less than 1 minute, you then requested backup as needed.Written August 27, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Maurene_KDover, NH12,594 contributionsOn a warm, sunny day in early November, I took a drive along the coast. Wallis Sands State Park was one of the places I made a stop. It was a re-visit.
In season, the beach can be very crowded, and reservations are highly recommended. The parking lot – which has several hundred parking spaces – can fill up fast on beach-weather days, especially on weekends.
This park has a small store that sells food and beverages, as well as a variety of items that beachgoers want or need.
There is a bathhouse with outside showers.
There is an area with picnic tables.
The beach itself is sandy. The swimming area is nice. The only less-than-perfect ting about Wallis Sands is the rocky area.
This is another state park in Rye from which one has views of some of the Isles of Shoals.
There is an area with benches well off to the side of the beach and up on a hill that has benches where one can sit and enjoy the view and the breeze.
IIn the off-season, there are usually a dozen or so people around. And, that what I found when I got there.
Like the others, I did some walking on the walkway during my visit.
I rate Wallis Sands Stet Park at 4.50.

I rented a kayak once I got there. The views were amazing and the lake was peaceful and refreshing.Written September 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Maurene_KDover, NH12,594 contributionsOn a warm day in early November, I took drive along the coast. When I got to Jenness State Beach, I noticed quite a few cars in the parking lot. I drove in and parked.
Some people were walking along the beach; others were sitting in beach chairs. A few were walking with dogs. That is permitted after November 1st. I did some walking myself.
It was a good place to be on a warm day in the fall after the summer crowds were gone.
In season, the bathhouse and restrooms are open.
Also in season, this beach is a good place for surfing medium-sized waves as well as the usual beach activities of sunbathing and swimming.
I’ve also been here during the regular season. It’s a nice sandy beach.
On a clear day, one can see some of the nine Isles of Shoals as I did. Some are in New Hampshire; some are in Maine.
I rate Jenness State Beach at 4.50 and can recommend a visit.

North Beach is less busy than South of each; each is just beautiful, a great place to spend a Summer's day. The views are intoxicating. I will also add that Hampton Beach is remarkably clean; there is no trash on the ground, it is very well-kept, maintained; it is a great place to visit! Recommended is that you arrive early as parking can be challenging weekends especially.Written September 4, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kimberly CWilton, CT23 contributionsThe sand is super soft and the swimming area is perfect for kids. The scenery is beautiful, the water is clear and the beach was very clean. There are bathrooms and picnic tables. We biked to the beach on the rail trail.Written September 8, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Bobbi SLido Beach, NY5,586 contributionsCame here with my sisters & had a perfect day (except for the parking ticket). There is lots of very convenient parking (make sure to correctly calculate how long you will be staying when you pay @ the central meter. Something we did not do; thus, the parking ticket). Beach is rocky@ the waterline so, either wear water shoes or brave the rocks. There was ample room to stretch out, take long walks to the nearby town (or, go across the street for great ice cream & seafood), there are bathrooms, showers, water fountain &, for the most part, it is a clean, inviting beach with adorable former fishing houses along its edge. Will happily return.Written September 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- ME-Traveler63Lyman, ME151 contributionsCan't say much else about the facility other than it had 4 very nice softball fields. Was there with our team for a weekend tournament and played all of our games there. Walked down to the beach once during a break. It looked nice. There was plenty of parking at the nearby school also.Written July 25, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Martha MMarshall, VA33 contributionsGreat place for everyone- solo, couples, family of young or teenage children, able-bodied seniors. - MCAPusa16 contributionsNice beach, but unless you are willing to walk or bike about 1.8 mi from the nearest public parking at the Clow street trail head parking lot, it is essentially off limits due to parking being restricted to Wolfeboro residents or those renting a house or staying in a hotel within Wolfeboro. Note the beach itself is not limited access, just the parking. The entire lake Winnie region is largely dominated by private land, and, given its size, there is limited access to the water for swimming and beach stuff. It is a shame there isn’t more of an effort to connect trails and expand access.Written August 15, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Maurene_KDover, NH12,594 contributionsOn a visit to Great Island Common, I was over by the fishing pier; and, from there, I could see a number of people at New Castle Beach which is accessible from Great Island Common and is associated with the Great Island Common park.
It’s a relatively small beach, but there are always people there in the summer.
It is surrounded by a rocky area, but the beach itself is sandy.
After enjoying time at Great Island Common, I decided to find the access to the beach. I went down the side roadway near the gatehouse. I found the path to the beach there.
Scenic views from New Castle Beach are similar to those from Great Island Common. The beach is closer to Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse and the USCG Station at New Castle and further away from Fort McClary State Historic Site across the harbor at Kittery Point as well as Wood Island Life-Saving Station and Whaleback Lighthouse in Kittery, ME.
Since it is pretty low on the tourism radar because it is fairly well-hidden from the outside world and visible pretty much just from Great Island Common and the ocean, I’d call it something of a hidden gem.
I rate New Castle Beach at 3.75.

- KmcoyleSanbornville, NH1,382 contributionsStopped by Lovell Lake beach for a little picnic on a beautiful day. The beach area is relatively small , but nicely kept up and clean. There are no lifeguards. Also, no trash baskets, so be sure to remove/ bring out everything you brought in. There are plenty of trees for shade, picnic tables, a small playground, a bath house and swimming. This section of the lake is pretty shallow, so good for kids. Right by a dam and runs along Rt 109, across from the fire/police station, so there is a bit of road noise disturbing the peace and quiet, but not horrible. Parking is VERY limited and the sign says you need a sticker for the Wakefield transfer station, but we have never been bothered ( and are town residents). The sign also says no pets, but we have seen the occasional small dog on a leash. All in all, a nice spot to grab a swim, read a book, enjoy a quiet afternoon!Written August 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
