Although the TSS Leeuwin was built in more modern times, any sojourn aboard is so very much an experience reminiscent of a bygone age. As such it's very enjoyable for anyone who wants to get a taste of those days, and a special thrill to lovers of the romance of old sail and square rig. One can either join in with some crew activities or just relax and enjoy. The breeze on our day out was no more than 10-12 knots, but it meant a sedate and very pleasant glide-along offshore from Port of Fremantle. Clients have the opportunity to climb the mast (for us, maybe next time!), and take the helm for a while . As a boatie, that turned out to be by far the largest vessel I've had the pleasure of steering. A tack took place while I was at the wheel so.. seventh heaven! The young lady who guided us around the ship was very pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. The snacks and drinks aboard were great. All in all a very memorable afternoon on a wonderful early summer day, complete with gentle cooling Fremantle Doctor making for a great outing. Looking forward to going again sometime, with perhaps a little more breeze to add to the wow factor. Do it!
