It produces performances which are so entertaining and well thought out engaging the senses thoroughly from the sounds to the set design and puppets. The performers Nick, Allan and Rebecca were hilarious and amazing in their ability to manipulate the puppets. I have taken my granddaughter (and my children when they were young) to nearly every show that has been performed by Spare Parts and I must say it has been an absolute treat. Whilst I did have to double check how to get there (ie. go up in the lift of the Navy Club) I have to say the venue and performing space were spot on for a proper jazz experience - this struck me from the moment I got there.
Based on the venue and music I heard, if I lived in Perth this would be a jazz venue I would want to frequently visit - a good size stage for the band and decent size room for the audience, a decent sound system, well presented in the decor, audience layout and the club owner’s introductions for the band. The bar had plenty of choice too and I think food was available too. The band I heard were superb and likewise I was impressed by the current programme I saw. This is a jazz venue that deserves way more reviews to commend the great musicians, jazz club setup and cultural contribution they bring to Perth.
