What travelers are saying
- WanderingOttersonsDenver, CO1,380 contributionsFor us, this island is best seen from the shores or from the water. The island itself is small and there is only the church and tower to visit. What is great is taking the pletna ride to get there and back which is an absolute must do item on the list. Another great option is to rent a row boat or a SUP to do it at your own pace.Written December 4, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SnowyShastaPortland, OR2,151 contributionsThis spot was by far our favorite viewpoint to see the lake and its island. We preferred it to both the views from the nearby Ojstrica and those from Bled Castle, as well as various from the lake level.
We hiked a circular loop basically clockwise, from the signed Mala Osojnica trailhead (where there was lockable parking for the bikes we had borrowed from our hotel), up to this viewpoint, over to the Ojstrica viewpoint, and then back around to close our loop. Just below this viewpoint (right at the top of a steep flight of stairs) there is a bench which also has some lovely view of the lake.
This viewpoint had multiple benches (3 or 4?) and a sign showing the elevation (685 m) and landmarks. As we left, there is a trail marker/sign that directs you towards Ojstrica (as well as Velika Osonjica, which we didn't visit).
From the trailhead, it took us about 35 minutes to reach this viewpoint (including a short stop at the bench just below it). We stayed here admiring the view and taking photos for about 15 minutes before proceeding onward, and the entire loop took us about an hour and a half.Written September 27, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The best part was the views for sure. 15 euros is a little bit pricy for what it is.Written December 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - zmabalBudapest, Hungary120 contributionsIt’s a short 20-minute walk but the path is very steep and very rocky.
Typically the place to see.
You will be tired by the time you reach the top, but you will say wow.Written March 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Church on island in Lake Bled. History can be traced back to the 11th to 8th century BC for this island. There have been several churches on this island suffering earthquakes and fires. Many people go there to ring the bell and make a wish. Can get to the island by Pletna boat, row
boat, or walk across the ice when the lake freezes. They do charge for entry into the church plus you must pay for boat transportation.Written October 31, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Locals dress up in costume for the period of the train. You travel through great scenery, great photo opportunities . We were so impressed , worth every euro. Booking advised.Written June 28, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- R8011905Cambridgeshire, UK228 contributionsVery pretty inside and really nice wall paintings. Worth lokking at. Easy to get to as church stands out in old town.Written June 13, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- SnowyShastaPortland, OR2,151 contributionsThe heart itself is a little cheesy, but we were still happy to wait a minute and then take a couple photos with it. The heart is in general located at a pretty scenic spot. Even if you don't take pictures with the heart itself, there or right nearby you can get some nice views and photos of the lake, its island, and Bled Castle above. We visited close to sunset, and it wasn't very crowded, and made for part of a nice evening walk near the lake.Written September 25, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - OrwelianUk157 contributionsGreat guys doing a great job, we did the lake trip and have done a review, if our boatman had sung all the way to the island it would have been fantastic....if he had a good voice obviously. Ours had a good sense of humour, nice guy.Written October 3, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- FTMDaveAdria, Italy6,794 contributionsThe walking path around Lake Bled is wide and well-maintained.
I did it in 70 minutes: I'm a fast walker but I also stopped a lot to take photographs!
The views of the lake, Bled Island, the castle and the surrounding mountains are fabulous.Written December 31, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A few benches, and a train schedule, there is also a map with the surrounding area and if you go across the street there is a beautiful view to Lake Bled. The trains are rear and far in between one another. I advise you to look up the train schedule online before you go there.Written July 31, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jan P7 contributionsThey don't let you in in swimming shorts! We swam to the island but they didn't let us in the Church without a shirt!Written August 5, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
