Something that can be done anywhere, but we decided to do Womai on a rainy day in Krakow. So glad we did. It really have us some insight into the world of those who cannot see. Martina was so nice and explained everything. What a lovely lady. She is blind and led us around the 2 or 3 dark rooms where we could not see anything at all. This is not a Disney park, a waterfall, or a castle, but a 1 hour educational experience that was interesting and unique. So glad we did it in Krakow and highly recommend it, especially on a rainy day.

This was the northern entrance of Krakow. It is now an intact tower that mainly serves as a navigation point for tourists. Quite an interesting place to explore when in the Polish city.

This is probably the first stop in Krakow for many tourists. Clean, tidy and convenient, it is a blend of old and new with everything handily available. There is a huge shopping mall right next to it. Good bus and tram connection, too.

Making our own obwarzanek felt like a cultured way to spend an hour in Krakow. In terms of preparation, you’re only really rolling and shaping the dough, but you get to choose your topping and learn more about Poland’s own street food bread creation.

There are classes delivered in English that can be booked on their website.

Steps away from the northern gate of Krakow's old town comes this imposing statue of a Polish king. Guarding the city, the monument is a handsome reminder of local history.

This is the perfect option for last-minute shopping in Krakow. Steps away from the railway station, Galeria Krakowska is a huge place to get everything from grocery to apparel and accessories. It is a neat and clean place for leisure shopping and beyond.

This is another historic church in Krakow. St Florian's Church is a stately, ornate institution that often serves for royal ceremonies. Interior is quite impressive and worth a look.

This square was named Matejko Square in 1882 on the occasion of bestowing the title of Honorary Citizen of Krakow to the painter Jan Matejko.

The most characteristic part of this striking square is the equestrian statue of Polish King Wladyslaw II Jagiello, unveiled in 1910 on the 500th anniversary of the Battle of Grunwald.

The Collegiate Church of St. Florian and the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts are located next to the square.

This is a great place to shop like locals. Stary Kleparz is a compact farmer market that serves everything from fresh produce to meat and seafood. Fun to explore with cheap goods.

Jan Matejki one of the great Polish painters - he is well know for his historical inspired paintings - such as - the "Battle of Grunwald", "Union of Lublin" - to mention really very few of those.
The monument is depicting the painter seating inside a painting frame - very interesting and very original from the perspective of the work.
Located in Planty Park - near the Barbican it is definitely worth a few pictures and a few minutes of your time.

This was the third part of the defend zone.
The exhibition itself is not very big and not very interesting. But there is an other exhibition of modells for a polish ritual - nativity scenes - models of churches with figures, sometimes they are moving. That is amazing. I was simple just sitting and watching those modells. Do not skip it, although it is a bit far from the city centre. You can get there by tram.

Once you have the ticket from Barbakan or Florian Gate, it is valid also here, do not buy another one.

One of the most important monuments in Krakow is Pomnik Grunwaldzki, a monument that marks a turning point in the history of Krakow.
Pomnik Grunwaldzki ( Grunwald Monument ) is a stunning monument on Plac Jana Matejki ( Jana Matejko Square ) in remembrance of the Battle Of Grunwald ( 1410 ) when the combined armies of Poland and Lithuania defeated the Teutonic Knights, this monument was unveiled in 1910 but destroyed by the German Army during the occupation of Poland including Krakow during World War Two.
The monument looks superb, each figure beautifully detailed, the equestrian statue of King Wladyslaw Jagiello is striking as is the statue of Lithuanian Prince Vytautas, there's Polish and Lithuanian soldiers on show and one of the most famous statue's is that of he slain figure of Grand Master of the Teutons Urlich Von Junjingen, all in all its a great monument to check out if you're planning a holiday to Krakow and easy to locate on Jana Matejko Square.
