We saw Janusz Skowron perform September 24, 2019. He was excellent. His performance included challenging pieces such as the Ballade in F minor and the Waltzes in E-flat major and D-flat major that sent shivers up my back.
There was a brief, entertaining pre-concert talk on the life and music of Chopin.
This was part of a regularly scheduled concert series. Concerts are usually held Tuesdays and Fridays (but this week’s Friday performance was cancelled).
Concerts start at 19:30. Tickets are available at the door from 18:30. Doors open 10’ before the concert.
The room holds under 100 people. The night we were there, it was close to capacity. Sight lines may be compromised depending on where one sits as there is no raised stage, but acoustically it is fine, albeit a very live room.
There is a short intermission.
They have a roster of pianists that regularly play these concerts. Skowron is a professor of piano performance at the KrakĂłw Music Academy and elsewhere, and does not appear to be one of the regular performers. We were fortunate to hear his performance and the entire experience was a treat.
