#1 of 33 Museums in Christchurch
The Air Force Museum reminds me of other aircraft museums I've visited as well as war museums such as the Imperial War Museum in London and the War Memorial in Canberra.
This is one of the best free museums you will come across in New Zealand.

It is a really unexpected gem at Okaines Bay by comparison with other street museums.
I particularly liked that the settlers' cottages and commercial buildings were a lot more rustic, and seemed more authentic, than similar displays in bigger museums.

This is undoubtedly one of the most diverse museums I've ever been to, with a wide variety of interesting and engaging exhibitions, stories, and displays.
I love museums as they can usually sum up a city’s indigenous people, flora and fauna, settlement, landscapes, and culture.

I usually hate museums but this place is a must visit when in Christchurch!
This has to be one of the best small museums I have ever visited.

One of the best museums I've been to.
excellent peguin exhibit and loved putting on coats and going into the antartic storm simulation--so amazingly well done that we would say a visit to this museum is definitely a must as you leave the Christchurch...

The best museum by far was the Christchurch Art Gallery featuring contemporary art by local artists.
Chch already has some beautiful art displays in its CBD that are worth a detour but an art gallery/museum was missing since the earthquakes and its just reopened!!!!

It's a small museum (with more galleries opening soon) containing a huge collection of toys, both modern and from past generations.
The owner is so kind and hospitable and the toy museum is one of the best I have experienced in this country.

Lovely little museum with very keen, enthusiastic and helpful staff.
It has had a total makeover to include interactive displays modelled on modern museum science.

There are hundreds of museums dedicated to British and European bikes, but this is the only one I know of dedicated purely to Japanese bikes.
Great little museum

This is a fantastic museum with plenty of history of the NZ airforce going back 100 years or so.

A real gem of a museum with some nostalgic and interesting vehicles.
It was a rainy day in Christchurch and I remembered passing by the sign on SH 73 just outside of Christchurch indicating there was a transportation museum located in Yaldhurst.

The museum is free to visit, and is a good activity if you have a bit of spare time in the city centre.
