Really amazing skipper and crew (Nick, Blue, Renata) - even with badish weather, it has been a great trip - absolutely worth it :)

As it was a bit of a wet miserable day we were given the option to change to another day from the captain. As we were only in Paihia for a few days and the weather was not getting any better we went ahead and was not disappointed. On the way out we were treated to a lengthy display of dancing dolphins and were fortunate that the weather held off to view some of the beautiful islands and marine park. The staff were informative and helpful. The captain guided us through some rough weather to a beautiful island where we had a lovely buffet lunch and a hike to the top of the hill for some magnificent views. As I’m sure it would be better on a sunny day overall it was a great trip and good value for money.

Willy was a very entertaining driver and tour guide. Had a great day out and experience. Beautiful scenery. An enjoyable day. One small downer was the toilets at some stops could have been maintained better.

This is a pleasant excursion to do while in port from a cruise stop. The meeting point is right at the disembarking area from the ship and the staff are readily present to meet you. Our guide, Greg, was very knowledgeable and friendly. You will have a comfortable ride in an air-conditioned bus. The first portion is a 35-40 minute drive to the glow worm caves. It is a pleasant ride peppered by your guide’s commentary. I enjoyed the drive to see the beautiful areas of New Zealand in all their summer splendor. Very pretty. The glow worm cave area is fairly unremarkable. You literally will get off and wait to enter with a guide in a line into the cave area. It will be dark in order to see the worms but there are lanterns provided to assist since there are steps and the walkway is a bit rickety. The history of the glow worm cave area is interesting to hear about from the staff, many of whom are related to the original founders of the caves. However the caves may be a bit underwhelming overall — basically, they are kind of neat to see and then you’re done. Following that it is back on the bus and more site seeing as you traverse the area to head to a chocolate store which is quite nice and their signature candy treat — Macadamia Butter Toffee Crunch — is worth indulging in. Prior to that was a brief stop at a famous Toilet spot that’s fun to see. Next we travelled onto lunch for meat pies at The Bakehouse. Very good and they have a wide assortment of tasty treats as well. Onto a Forrest area walk that is rather impressive and takes just 5 minutes to walk about to enjoy. More driving then to see a rather quaint little waterfall area followed by one last scenic stop for a photo op of the harbor with your cruise ship in the background which was quite beautiful and picturesque as well. Our guide was mindful of the time to get back to ship which was obviously important too. Overall, a nice day sightseeing opportunity coupled with a bit of New Zealand culture worth indulging in. Best geared toward adults; kids were a bit bored.

Great tour around the bay of islands.
The captain and rest of crew were very helpful. We had 2 stops and we went through the hole in the rock, which was a highlight. The weather was a little chilly and it rained unfortunately. So we didn’t feel like snorkelling but it was still a good day overall.

Great fun, well worth the money! The boat and all the equipment and clothing was first class. Pock a centre aisle seat if you'd rather not get wet! But it's only salt spray.

Had a great time Sailing w/Barefoot Sailing Company. I was a little concerned as the weather was off and on windy & rainy around the days before and after but all was great! The Skipper navigated the weather forecast just fine and never felt like “we shouldn’t have gone out”—I’m so glad we did! Excellent communication leading up to the tour and everything was just as said. Comfy Bean-Bag chairs, with coffee brought to you, Sailed to a beautiful Island, I opted to hike to a beach and have my picnic lunch (which was yummy). Others who stayed back and snorkeled said it was great seeing rays and lots of fish. They were from CA so knew what they were talking about. It was a great day and would highly recommend!

A great ending to our lovely Paihia trip! We are a family of three including a 1-year old baby and we really enjoyed our afternoon with Jake and Shay. They are very friendly and knowledgable crew who looked after all of us. We took a lot of photos on that day and my baby thoroughly enjoyed her time in the paddleboard (on land haha!). Thank for a beautiful and amazing day!

Visited her with my brothers and dad, and we had a fantastic time! We opted for a guided tour and cultural performance before the experience started, and CeCe gave us an excellent tour, with lots of interesting information about Waitangi and plenty of humour. Then the cultural performance, which was fantastic, in turns both solemn and fun.

That was all before we even got to the hangi! Our host for the evening, Dan Busby, explained how it worked, and had funny and informative answers for our group’s many questions. He then led us to our cultural performance, which was different to the earlier one, and finally back to the care to actually eat the food!

The whole experience was a delight, and will probably be one of the highlights of this trip. A particular favourite was the meeting ceremony, especially as my dad got to play a part in it!

Awesome trip and crew. Pod of 🐬 joined us 😁. Weather was rough but we stayed up on the open top deck with the wind howling and big swells, taking in mother nature 😁

We were stuck with ideas on what to do during our stay in Paihia, we decided to go on an excursion into the bay. We were fortunate enough to be aboard a boat with an AMAZING skipper. Captain Zac Sparrow was the highlight of our month long trip in NZ. His knowledge and humour was absolutely outstanding. My children fell in love with him. We learnt a lot about the history of the area and was sad when the trip was over. Time flies when you’re having fun! I would highly recommend this tour to absolutely everyone.
