- Katrina Magnus41 contributionsWhat an amazing place! One of the best museum/ galleries in Australia. The exhibits and displays are too many to name and the quality is excellent, we went in and came out 4 hours later without any clue that we had been there that long. Unbelievably it is free although we did pay the small entry fee to see the Archibald 100 exhibit which had a free guide! The Cyclone Tracey exhibit was excellent. Although warm due to it being outside the display of different sailing vessels were amazing. The way all of the animals are preserved and displayed is excellent. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.Written 28 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Yvonne5603Melbourne, Australia72 contributionsLoved the markets at the beach. Plenty of food to choose from. Not as many non food stalls as I expected but maybe there is more on Thursday. Great atmosphere sitting on the dunes watching the sun go down.Written 10 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This was a better option than being dropped back at our hotel. We enjoyed a light lunch in the cafe before exploring the gardens. The visitors centre is worth visiting to learn more about the gardens including the cyclones and personalities who shaped its development. Overall, the gardens are well maintained and it’s easy walking, but can be hot. Worth visiting.Written 4 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- SandySydneyAusAustralia656 contributionsIf you are in Darwin on market day you have to go. Variety of foods. Especially Asian foods. Special fruit juices. Nice to walk around the crowd. We tried all Thai salads and curries. Fruit juices. Sit on the grass anywhere. Bring a rug if you can. Go early and walk back along the beach at sunset time.Written 8 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ashfield531Ringwood, UK1,026 contributionsLooking out over the ocean this is well worth visiting. There are a lot of items displayed to tell the history of Darwin, particularly during WW2. This includes the evocative war memorial.Written 29 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- DEP3Binghamton, NY302 contributionsBruce Munro's outdoor installation covers about a mile, and comprises about 8 illuminated sculptures. You guide yourself by following signs on the pavement -- kind of like a treasure hunt. We overnighted on a cruise, so returned to Darwin at night to see this spectacular exhibit. Fiber optics create magical opportunities to take your breath away. Other artists' works are part of the fun. Tropical Light runs through April, I think, so if you happen to be in Darwin or the area, don't miss this -- definitely a must see.Written 5 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
