A day tour with a hike to Leliyn - Edith Falls which included a quick dip at the natural pool and then to Nitmiluk National park to see the Katherine gorge inclusive of a boat ride sounded exhaustive, but this was exactly what the Autopia tours have nicely compressed into their package to this part of the Northern Territory. Distance from Darwin was several hundred kilometres and our group comprised of a mix of young and elderly. We were picked up from the hotel around 6.30 in the morning while it was still dark and we were able to witness the sunrise along our way on the Stuart Highway heading to Adelaide River where we broke journey at the "Adelaide River Post office and store" for refreshing and picking up food items for breakfast and or lunch. This was an interesting rural café, post office and a store where we were able to get coffee and pick up some delicious Sandwiches to take for our lunch on-the-go. Our driver guide “Rick” gave us a fantastic commentary about Darwin during the second world war and the consequences of bombings and he explained many other things of tourist value in the areas we were crossing during the journey. He took us passing the World War II cemetery in Adelaide River which was supposed to be the only one in Australian soil, which appeared to be very well maintained and then to the old causeway across Adelaide River showing us the level to which this river rose during the last devastating floods which submerge a large land mass. We had another stop at Pine Creek to refresh ourselves and finally arrived at Leliyn “Jawoyn Leliyn Kiosk” where we refreshed again and began our hike, first to the Bemang lookout of Edith falls and then to the upper pool for a quick dip and thereafter proceeded to get back to the bus. Rick took care of us by joining us on the hike and always remained closer to the weaker elderly to make them feel safe and assisted. The hike was a bit strenuous in warm weather, a bit more than expected for some but with a slower pace everyone was able to complete the loop to hurry to the next destination. Edit Fall was very pretty cascading down in two tiers. Water temperature was extremely soothing for the bathers.

Boat operators were ready and waiting to welcome us for the boat ride and Autopia travels have pre-booked our tickets and it was a quick transfer on a ramp to the awaiting boat to commence the tour. The Katherine gorge tour was excellent and memorable. The pre-historic rock art were marvellous. The tour was well organised and we were in safe and caring hands of the driver guide “Rick” who did an excellent job.

If you are in Darwin and short for time, then this one day trip is an excellent taster for Kakadu and the surrounding wilderness. It's a long day, so be prepared for this but you already know that Australia is no small country. Our tour consisted of 10 people hosted by our guide Bec. The small 20 seater coach was comfortable, air conditioned and each person had 2 seats to themselves. Along the journey there's lots of wildlife and fauna to see and our guide Bec was very knowledgeable and informative providing a very good commentary along the way and return journey. We stopped at various sites at Kakadu and enjoyed seeing beautiful landscapes as well as aboriginal art on rocks. Plenty of wildlife to be seen, crocodiles, wild buffalo, wallabies, a solitary dingo and an array of bird species. We never felt rushed during the stops at the various locations and our tour guide certainly took good care of us and was never short of providing informative information which made the day extra enjoyable. All in all a very good day out and this trip is highly recommended.

We booked this as a shore excursion online, we were met just outside the cruise terminal at 8:00 am. There were 19 of us on this tour today with one guide who was also our driver. His name was Aaron and he quickly established the fact he was going to be a great guide as we made our way to Lichfield Park.

During the journey, he gave us some good information about Darwin and the local area while at the same time being very entertaining. The drive to the national park took just over an hour and a half through the bush along lots of pretty much deserted straight roads. We paused a couple of times to view some of the wildlife in particular Wallabies and Wallaroos.
There were three stops in the park today and at all of them there was the opportunity to go swimming. So, our first stop was at Wangi Falls which was pretty spectacular even though it had not rained much in the last 7 months.
Aaron showed us some of the native trees and explained some information about them, some of which had certain medical uses. I decided not to go in the water at the first one choosing to explore and take a few photos but Nicole made straight for the pool and was soon enjoying a cool dip. I found some impressive-looking webs with spiders and there were also lots of Fruit Bats hanging from the trees. After about an hour we travelled another 22 km to our second stop which went by the name of Buley Rock Hole, this was a series of plunge pools and this time I succumbed and followed Nicole into the water. We enjoyed 45 minutes here and then gathered near the car park where Aaron had prepared a picnic lunch for us all. It also gave us time to dry off which didn’t take long at all. Our next stop was only a short drive and probably my favourite, it was about 4 km downstream and another spectacular place called Florence Falls. There were two options for getting down to the pool and we took the shortest one which involved 100 or so steps down a metal staircase. The other route was flatter but much longer, this is how we got back to the bus afterwards. This was the busiest of the three places and easy to understand why as it was an amazing setting and the water was cool and refreshing on the skin. I quickly took several photos before eventually joining Nicole in the water. Like the first stop, there were lots of Fruit Bats hanging in the trees presumably making the most of the cooler temperature near the water. Once back to the bus it was time to make our way back to Darwin with a couple of stops along the way, one to visit some Magnetic Termite Mounds, one for a refreshing drink at a small town called Bachelor and lastly, a quick one to look at a Bowerbird nest which was absolutely fascinating. Built by the male in order to attract a partner. We were told that if you moved stuff around, it would end up exactly in the same place when the Bowerbird returned.
We were back in Darwin before we knew it. An absolutely great day out and many thanks to Aaron for being the perfect guide.

Nice and comprehensive tour through the Litchfield NP and very nice spots. All in all a quite enjoyable tour, thanks to our guide Rick. Just be aware that there can be a lot of people at some spots.

I was quite scared about seeing the crocs before I got on the boat but the crew make us feel safe so actually enjoyed it way more than I thought I would. Great experience!

The positive and negative reviews were very accurate, but the negative ones seemed to be personal taste as to what was boring or not. Read the description - it's what you get. Positives - lovely locations and the tour company did a good job of hitting all the top spots with enough time to see the sights and swim if desired. The lunch was simple, but very well prepared - potato salad, pasta salad, deli sandwiches (make your own), watermelon for dessert. Ice cold water to refill water bottles was available.
Negatives - Nov is HOT!!! and HUMID!!! but this is hardly the tour company's fault. Our driver was also the tour guide and while his commentary was good, it was so halting (distracted by having to talk and drive at the same time?) and such a strong accent (of course, I am the foreigner here) that it was hard to understand him. The bus had a very loud idling motor.
I would definitely recommend this tour. We saw wallaby, bats, termite mounds and huge spiders. So cool!

We booked this trip with LookAbout Tours because we used to go Fogg Damn forty odd years ago to bird watch and see the fabulous sunsets. We regarded it as a good way to see some Northern Territory nature and as a nostalgic trip down memory lane. We were not disappointed! Geoff was a superb guide and appreciated that we were there to reminisce as well as see some birds. The side trip to Leaning Tree Lagoon was a bonus as we saw a large variety of birds, including Jabiru Stork, Royal Spoonbill and a close up of Red Tailed Cockatoo. Fogg Damn itself was different to how we remembered it with a sealed road and viewing platforms but there were very few visitors so we virtually had the place to ourselves. The sunset was lovely and provided fantastic photographs.
After the sun had set we went to Humpty Doo pub nearby where we enjoyed good beer, Barramundi and the biggest steak in the NT, There was only four guests with Geoff and we really enjoyed having a chat together after the tour.
The following day, Geoff sent us copies of his photos which was a bonus.
We would definitely recommend this trip as a great way to see Northern Territory nature in a small, friendly group.

the best way to spend time in darwin is to get out of darwin. the national parks around darwin are incredible and getting to spend two days in kakadu and one day in litchfield
is incredible. our tour guide eliot was incredibly kind, relaxed, prepared, friendly, patient, and helpful. he really helped us have a great experience in all of our locations and allowed us to see some wonderful parts of these parks. i booked this tour on a whim and i’m glad i did. it is well worth the money and is definitely recommend to anyone with at least 4 days in the darwin area. not too physically depending at all.

We had a lovely day, it is a long day , starting out early and getting back late in the afternoon, the waterfalls were great and the swimming areas were good, to have a swim and cool down. Our Tour guide was really good, and had lots of information to share. Make sure you take your lunch and snacks or buy it at the first stop, as there is not a place close to the waterfalls to buy any food. The Bluey Rockhole is not as safe to swim at , compared to Florence Falls and the Wangi Waterfalls, the last one is the best one to swim at. Beware it is a long walk down to the Florence Waterfalls, if you have trouble walking , this may not be for you. We did not go on the crocodile tour, we went to Fogg Dam, where we can see some crocodiles from a distance . The termite mounds were interesting to see, and it is amazing how the termites build these mounds.

Yesterday's experience in seeing such a beautiful part of Australia was amazing.
Our tour guide, Daryl, was very knowledgeable with local history and showed us many things we otherwise would not have bern able to see....from termite mounds to Golden Orb Spiders! The Litchfield National Park is beautiful with its stunning waterfalls, babbling brooks and water holes.
    We enjoyed a delicious lunch
and I tried Crocodile for the first time...delicious!
Daryl looked after us extremely well and made sure we were well hydrated all day.
I would highly recommend this wonderful day excursion with this company and very professional tour guide.

The whole day was perfect. Rasa is a thoughtful, knowledgeable and easy to be with person, who obviously loves what she does. We stated off the day at Daintree Rainforest tour with a guide, with Rasa with us showing us additional things of interest and watching out for us. At the Mossman Gorge and Beach, Rasa brought food for the fish, which allowed us to enjoy watching all the fish swarm to eat. After a lunch (with appropriate food for me, gluten free eater), we went to the beach. After the Aboriginal guides taught us how to spear mud crabs, we walked over a great expanse of sand and shallow water. At the end of the walk, the guides cooked the crabs and periwinkles that were caught and we got to taste them. Rasa did not seem to tire of our questions (and there were a lot of the ). It was a wonderful day!
