We visited on a late morning. The man at the kiosk was initially brusque. He did, in his defence, openly admit he knew very little English. When assured that 2 of the 3 of us would be fine with the tour in French he warmed visibly, proferring a translation in English at the appropriate time for my partner.
He then left us to explore the donjon on our own and meet for the tour shortly after. The donjon and it views were amazing. Coupled with the adjacent towers of the medieval garden it reminded somewhat of Lucca in Tuscany.
After our descent we joined another family for the tour. The man we initially met conducted us and was clearly informed and passionate on the subject. You can tell the difference between a memorised script and personal recounting.
The series of rooms that we were shown, coupled with the items in them showed a clear insight into the personal world of a once very powerful family of France.
Overrall we enjoyed the visit, the Duché is quite small and one has to remember it is still a functioning home. But the tour did at points feel a little rushed. Some further information on certain works of art wasn't offered unless asked which proved a little disappointing considering the age of some of the pieces.
If in Uzès I would still recommend visiting.
