Sadly, Kawasan Falls was smashed by the recent typhoon. I visited magical Kawasan many times over the years but I was shocked by my recent visit in September, 2022. The falls and surrounds were so badly damaged by Typhoon Odette that they were unrecognizable when I visited again recently. The only way you can visit the upper falls and Kawasan itself today is by going canyoneering with an experienced guide because of the dangerous rock formations and rubble caused by the massive typhoon. My guide Arnold was terrific, and great fun. Kawasan is unrecognizable today from what it looked like before. It was one of the most beautiful waterfalls I’ve ever seen, but not today. The canyoneering above Kawasan was spectacular but hard going with many minor falls, caving, waterholes and cliff jumps. Well worth doing but you need to be reasonably fit. The picture of me here is of the beautiful smaller falls above Kawasan. The other fun pic is of me and girlfriend, Genevieve. The final pic shows me with Arnold, my guide, drinking coconut wine after a fun day out canyoneering.

This is one of the favorite places to go in our area. Kawasan Falls is about 30 minutes, or so, from Moalboal. There are some things that concerned me a while back, like many people washing their clothes in the river on the trek up to the falls. trash, and the safety of some of the steps going up to the falls needing attention. But overall, it is a beautiful hike. There are essentially 3 tiers of the falls, each one resulting in beautiful, large pools for swimming. I always go to the top because you can dive off of the cliff, and they have a swing rope. The water is amazingly cold and refreshing. Be careful hiking up, but definitely make this part of your adventure!

It's a public beach so expect busyness especially during the weekends, some of which are daytrippers. There can be karaoke as early in the morning and stores, tents and and tables for rent line up the shore. Good thing is you'll never get hungry or thirsty but some resorts can be territorial. I was asked to leave in one spot where I was lazing around because I was not their guest.

I'm not sure if it's because of the season but when it's low tide in the morning, it is fun but can be daunting for some to see the sandbed and all its creatures. Yes, there is a section with sea urchins so be careful. But there are fishes and starfish too.. Tide starts to pick up around 10AM but water still shallow. Beware at night though as tide can possibly reach the establishments or your tent.

Entrance fee at 45 pesos. Place is ideal for groups as rooms and cottages/tables are usually rented. I am a solo traveler and since I didn't have my tent with me, I had to pay for tent rental AND table even if I don't need the latter.

Our guide Jerry was absolutely a pleasure, he guided us safely through the experience and even took pictures and videos for us to enjoy afterwards. Our driver Glenn got us there and back safe and I would highly recommend Mcrich, we booked via Klook and it was a third of the price to what the hotel offered.

It was our second time doing the Canyoneering with the same Travel Agency. Communication with them is easy and the tour guides that accompanied us were highly accomodating. We enjoyed our trip thanks to them. No hassle in booking and there are various payment options.

Me and my sister booked onto this experience as recommended by our hotel in Moalboal. We got picked up by Nielmar in his Tuk Tuk from our hotel at 07:30 and got to the JoePro reception at about 08:00. We got fitted with equipment and headed to the zip wire on the back of a motorbike which was an experience in itself! We opted to take the zip wire instead of a 45 minute walk and although it was slightly more money it was so worth it. We felt that we had already had our adrenaline rush for the day! It was then a short walk down to where we began the canyoneering. Neilmar was extremely attentive and professional at all times - he was also our personal photographer for the day and took loads of great photos and videos. Going through the waterfalls was tiring but so so worth it. There are small places to stop for a drink/food if you would like. After the experience we headed back to the reception for some food which was delicious. We then hopped back on the Tuk Tuk and was back at the hotel by 14:00.
Altogether was an amazing and memorable experience, made more special by Neilmar who we could not fault in the slightest.

We highly recommend Banamboo. We did canyoneering at Kawasaan, visited the whale sharks in Oslob, and snorkeled in Moalboal. It was an amazing time! Josephine is the best organizer and planner, and a wonderful person. She was like a caring auntie to our kids too. She and her partners made us feel like family, and were very accommodating to our preferences. They even welcomed us into their homes for lunch. We would definitely go back to Banamboo if ever in Cebu again.

It doesn't seem like they can be bothered to run a business there! The owner didn't check her emails, so when we arrived there was only another guest/friend of hers ready to send us away until we showed the booking confirmation.
The room smelt stuffy and was filled with broken furniture which squeaked like hell. Ancient AC that did not cooled the room but its noise could be heard over earplugs.
There were loads of left over handaoaps and personal items in bathroom as per the photos. The shower was not clean, with a broken head that made our first day a nightmare. Even when they said they replaced the shower head, it was bit a decent shower.
Trickle of water in tap to wash hands etc.
    Bin was not emptied once.
Breakfast was a sad egg and a bread bun which we didn't bother with on the day we checked out.

It was my first time going out of my town with my friends and it was one of the best experiences I ever had. If you are going to Cebu, Kawasan Canyoneering experience is a must go to place and Lucero Tours and Travel is the best choice to guide you! It was an amazing experience! I would definitely go back.

The canyoneering trip was overall just amazing! We were a group of 3 and booked the canyoneering just spontaneously the night before. We were picked up at 7 (the earlier, the better - less people) at our hostel in Moalboal and driven to the canyoneering. On the way we received life vests and helmets as well as snacks and drinks; waterproof wrapping for phones etc. can be bought at the entrance to canyoneering. The canyoneering itself is a series of jumps, slides, swimming passages and short walks in the canyon. The water is cool, the air is warm, the view beautiful. Just great! Our tourguide accompanied us all the time but didn't participate in the jumping. The grand finale is of course the 12m jump and the Kawasan fall in the end. After the trip we got a nice, self-cooked lunch at the Moreno's office.

tour guides are friendly, they make sure that you are properly equipped with helmet, life vest and footwear before going on the canyoneering tour. they have rubber shoes if you are wearing sandals or flip flops. they also provide umbrella for the sun. plus they will take care of the pictures for you.

Our group includes 1 senior citizen and 1 child, 3 adult swimmers and 2 fearful adults. With this group profile, we were having second thoughts to continue the canyoneering adventure. Doubting if we are capable to do the adventure.
But we are travelling from Baguio to Cebu for our debutant's bucket list. So we have to ask her again if she really wants to add the canyoneering in our itinerary. Well, part of negotiating are:
    1. Kawasan Falls- we've been to many falls. Maybe this one would be as the same.
    2. Diving - we've been to many cliff diving. Maybe this one would be as the same.
    3. We have more falls to visit up north. Maybe she'll have other options.
However, she didn't cancel this activity. Today, I'm genuinely glad she didn't change her mind. Despite the many falls we visited, Kawasan Falls was very different. As simple as the color of the water.....So blue (not greenish). I fell in love.
The jumps... Omg.. You won't believe how amazing the experience would be very very different. Well, I really appreciate how kuya Dave and Kuya Kevin handled our senior citizen, our 8yo child, 2 fearful adults. We felt safe. And we found our courage.
The trek was so enjoyable. Kuya Dave and kuya Kevin were so fun to be with. We were like BFFs in just one click. As we traversed, they made sure that it will be hassle free.
As tourists, we were really concerned with the photos and videos. We want to capture this unforgettable moment the best possible way. And Kuya Dave didn't disappoint us. Such a professional.
We will bring in more family and friends to visit this magical place and enjoyable journey.... Of course with the same team that led our adventure.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM FOR YOUR KAWASAN FALLS AND CANYONEERING ADVENTURE. SIGURADONG HINDI NAKAKAHIYANG IREKOMENDA.
