- nomadtravelNew Zealand15 contributionsthis is a must see when visiting Calbayog City. Been here with my girlfriend, took advantage of Baypark Hotel local tour package. The place is an hour trek but is absolutely worth it.Written January 11, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Joe SVancouver, Canada16 contributionsThe natural setting is beautiful. The water is warm and pleasant but regardless of trash clean up on the beach the main issue here is the water itself. I think they need nets further out to stop trash and other debris from infiltrating the swimmable water. My son got a nasty bacterial infection after swimming here. People in the area throw their trash in the water in part because I am told the local trash pick up is bad (not that this is an excuse) and the result is pristine nature is turned into toilet water.Written April 18, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Surely you will never regret being at this place when you got here.
Wear comfortable clothes that can be use for hiking or outside activity. Always bring water with you, and keep yourselves free from accidents.Written October 21, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The boat is scheduled to leave at 1pm but would usually wait until all cargoes and expected passengers have arrived. No decent lifevest. Usually fully loaded. We had to make three stops in the island of Almagro before we were dropped off at the Lungsod, or the town center. At Buri, I was amazed by the coconuts floating on the shores. There were hundreds of them. The waters was so still and clear that you can almost see the bottom of the sea floor. Later on, we were told that there were also lots of monkeys living here and sigbin. It was already sundown when we docked into a dock near the Lungsod.Children would scramble down the steep dock to help unload the cargoes. This is their way to earn their baon for the next day.(Do you know that you could go to Masbate or Maripipi, Biliran from here?) We arrived at the Lungsod at 7 pm. So the total trip lasted for 5 hours. If we were to include the waiting time it would be 7 hours. Bring something to nibble on if you are heading to Almagro.Do you know that electricity runs in this island from 6pm to 12am only? Yet amazingly, the household where we stayed had a washing machine, refrigerator and oven. I had to ask our host how they managed to get these things into the island. It was transported using the boat we rode it. There was even one time that they had to transport the ambulance in the same way. Although why they would need an ambulance in a place with very narrow roads baffles me.Written February 20, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Andreas M19 contributionsIs a small but very interesting Museum with the story off a priest in Samar..it includes old books, ceramics, bones and parts of the old Calbayog cathedral..If you want to find it you must go to the entrance of Christ the King College and ask the guards (choice a day that college is open)..the responsible man will open the Museum and is very helpful to show it and a part of college with the nice chapel.Written June 17, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - myfoodeverCalbayog City, Philippines6 contributionsBagacay Beach Resort is a nice little place, but not a great beach. I can tell you that the picture presented here is not Bagacay Beach. That's a picture of the pool/dining area at Marju Krisel Resort on the other side of town. That is the best pool in town. Bagacay Beach only has the ocean, no pool.Written April 21, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- VictorianladMelbourne, Australia17,134 contributionsLike quite a few Filipino beaches at low tide one has to walk a substantial distance - 80 metres would be my guess - to access the calm waters.
Beach was quite clean; sand not quite as attractive as the white sand beaches.
Overall probably a very good beach for those with young children. Bring sunblock, hats and 'rash guards.'Written May 11, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Some describe beautiful gardens while we seen below average, unfinished, and unkept landscaping. The large swimming pool was dirty with floating algae and bugs. The small pool piped with hot water from the spring was also dirty. The hot spring itself is about the size of a king sized bed and is fenced off like a wishing well. There is a small chapel at the site which was the nicest structure we seen. There seems to be some overnight cottages as well as day use cottages that rent for P100. There is a canteen that serves snacks, refreshments, soda, beer. Was not impressed at all with the experience. And P40 entry fee is overpriced. Could have went to a local beach resort and swam for P50. The nicest thing about this entire trek was the boat ride up the river. Not much more to see other than that.Written May 24, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- LeisureTraveler8888Cebu City, Philippines208 contributionsVisited the park early morning as part of my morning walk. There is a back to back artificial water falls at the end near the bridge.
It is a small park mostly unkempt. There were some old timers lounging around near the statue of Rizal.
There was also a bust of a man without any description.
Some huts for trade exhibits and a stage.
There is an "I 💘 Catbalogan" sign on one wall.Written March 6, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Macawat Falls Slide, often referred to without the 'falls' in the name, is much easier to access than Busay Falls.
The waters were clean, crisp and inviting.
Wear reef shoes.
Some butterflies (dark blue in colour) were hovering.
Enjoy this and take any rubbish back to your car or bus.Written October 23, 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This is Calbiga Waterfall located in Brangay Dawo of this city. There are actually many falls related to this in just one location, but the tallest of them is called Calbiga by locals.
Because of it's remoteness, the area is in pristine condition. It is a favorite picnic site for locals who wanted to be secluded in a beautiful place. The forest is dense, but there is a trail that leads every visitor to the falls.Written June 21, 2014This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
